Question: Have we entered into the Age of Aquarius? If so, when did this transition happen? If not, when might it occur? I’m curious to hear your thoughts. #aquarius

Johfra Bosschart’s painting of Aquarius is masterful and beautifully layered. Fittingly, it's reminiscent of The Star card, which corresponds with Aquarius. This card commonly depicts a central star (sometimes seven-pointed) surrounded by seven smaller stars. Rather than embedding septenary symbolism in the heavens I think it's interesting that Bosschart weaves it into the piece with seven lotuses at the bottom of the painting. I'm inclined to think that the brilliant star alludes to the North Star which is often connected to the number seven. The deeper connections between Aquarius and the Pole Star are beyond the scope of this post, but it’s worth noting that Polaris has long been associated with death and the stairway to heaven. Bosschart speaks to the journey of the afterlife by showing a pilgrim walking through a black skull toward a mythical kingdom. As always, there’s a lot more to uncover if you take a closer look.

@sacha31456 I’m aware of the common associations for the card. I make my case in this presentation if you or anyone else is interested:

This composition represents The Four Living Creatures as a tetramorph. Among their many interpretations, they also represent the fixed signs of astrology which each contain a royal star. The bull represents Taurus, the eagle represents Scorpio, the lion is Leo and the human is Aquarius. In this version, Aquarius takes center stage and holds a sword which is symbolic of air, its elemental correspondence. In the major arcana, these four creatures are often seen as angels in the corners of The Wheel of Fortune and The World cards. This artwork is titled The Cherub of Ezekiel and appears in The Secret Teachings of All Ages by Manly P Hall.
