Craig Williams will still be on the ballot on July 4. He could still be returned as our MP.
Labour is the only progressive party that can replace the Tories in Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
Change will only happen if you vote for it.
Family Statement:
Our mum, Sally, passed away last night.
I would like to give my personal thanks to the staff of Wrexham Maelor hospital, especially Dr N McAndrew and his team for their respectful and sensitive treatment and 1/2
Today I was honoured to be sworn into Parliament as the first ever Labour MP for Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
I promised during the campaign to work tirelessly for the people of the community I call home. Now I can officially begin that work.
It was an honour to give my maiden speech this week.
I dedicated it to my mother, Sally Witherden, who saw me elected before passing away a fortnight ago. Thanks again to the staff at
@BetsiCadwaladr
Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
Watch here:
I am beyond humbled to have been elected MP for

A truly historic result – huge thanks to my endlessly supportive family, dedicated campaign team, and to voters for putting trust in me to bring change to our constituency.
The hard work begins today.
A fantastic first day at Westminster yesterday.
Special thanks to my cousin for letting me bunk at her place for my first week.
I’m still learning my way around but I’m eager to get to work for the people of Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
Thank you to everyone who has contacted me since my election.
I am continuing to get my office set up. I will update everyone soon on how best to contact me and when surgeries will be taking place.

Apologies for any delays in responding to communications. I am dealing with a very sudden close family bereavement.
Many thanks for your patience at this time.
A&E Nurse Kathryn whose compassion, professionalism and kindness helped make a difficult day that much more bearable.
I will return to my duty as MP for Montgomeryshire & Glyndŵr as soon as possible but for now 2/3
Brilliant event today with the NFU.
During the campaign I pledged to always defend the farming community who form an essential part of Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
From the top of the constituency to the bottom, I have been to every corner, shook every hand I possible could, knocked on countless doors and spoke to thousands of voters.
Please get out and vote this Thursday.
Vote for change. Vote Labour tomorrow.
The final day of the campaign and I’m honoured to be joined by
@IanByrneMP
.
On the doorstep the people we speak to are energised for change.
Tomorrow, vote for change. Vote Labour.
Brilliant to be joined by Senedd member Huw Irranca-Davies in Newtown on Friday and to receive his endorsement under the Robert Owen statue.
We are busy campaigning on the final weekend before the election, the final weekend before we can say goodbye to the Tories.
I am not a career politician.
I’ve been a teacher for nearly 20 years and my wife works for the NHS. We’ve both seen the damage done by the Tories over the last 14 years.
This is why I'm standing to be your MP for Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr:
Breaking down barriers to young people was one of my campaign pledges.
Tackling child poverty is one step to this.
I am proud that today the government announced a ministerial taskforce to begin work on the Child Poverty Strategy.
We are working hard to win every vote across Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
Meeting and talking to people is the highlight of each day and I am determined to fight for the local issues that matter most to you.

A great day of campaigning in Newtown talking to voters on the doorstep eager for change.
We are not complacent, we know Craig Williams can still win on Thursday.
But not if you vote Labour to ensure this doesn’t happen.
While polls show Labour as the most likely winner in Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr, this only happens if we vote for it.
Craig Williams remains on the ballot and can still win.
Labour is the only vote to prevent this.
Vote for change on July 4th.
I’m not a career politician. I’m a secondary school teacher who wants to make a difference for the people in the place I’m lucky to call home.
I’m working hard to earn every vote and look forward to continuing to meet more people on the doorstep.
Right now, eleven million people in the UK are experiencing food insecurity.
Its why the Right to Food Campaign led by
@IanByrneMP
is so important.
If elected as your MP, I will work tirelessly to reduce food insecurity across the constituency.
Sadly, Tory sleaze is nothing new.
I’m working hard to bring change to Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr, and to be an MP people can have faith in.
The only way to get change is to vote Labour on 4 July.
Under Tory governments our rail services became the bane of existence for many commuters.
I gladly welcome the proposals in the Kings Speech last week to create Great British Railways and bring train operators under public ownerships.
It gave me great pleasure to speak with members of Guilsfield and Llandrinio Cricket Club today. Such a wonderful grassroots group, run by people who adore their community and that really came across when we were speaking.
We are at Guilsfield Show today so please drop in just like our new MP
@switherdenMP
did this morning.
He had the chance first hand to hear how the club has grown in recent years.
Hope to see you down the
#LHGOval
soon for a game!
It has been amazing to see so much support for our campaign in every corner of Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr - I am incredibly grateful for the hard work everyone has put in so far.
Can't wait for tomorrow.

Congratulations to
@Eluned_Morgan
on being elected as Leader of
@WelshLabour
.
I look forward to working closely together to deliver for our shared constituents and for the people of Wales.
Llongyfarchiadau mawr 🏴 🌹
Sure all will join me in expressing support for the police/fire service/coastguard, at the R.Severn in Welshpool, in their current search for a missing person. While all are concerned, we must refrain from visiting the site/allow the professionals the space needed to operate in.
Officers are currently involved in a multi-agency search at the River Severn in Welshpool
A search is underway for a missing person, reported at just before 4.40pm.

The Kings Speech yesterday promises to ban zero-hour contracts.
It plans for the creation of the New Deal for Working People and to end exploitative work practises.
Labour promised a decade of renewal, and on that we are delivering.
Great British Energy is at the centre of our ambitions to make the UK a clean energy superpower.
Investing billions in clean energy projects including onshore and offshore wind will lower bills, create jobs, and deliver energy security for households up and down the country.
On the doorstep I talk to voters eager for change and honest leadership.
I am not a career politician, I have never held elected office.
I am running to do good by the people of the community I love. To do right by Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
If elected, I will help to bring well-paid jobs into the constituency.
I will create a constituency cabinet harnessing our local colleges, employers, businesses, unions, farmers, young people, and voluntary organisations to rethink our local economy.
Let us not get complacent, the challenge ahead of us is great.
Labour is the only progressive vote capable of keeping Craig Williams from winning.
Vote Labour on July 4th.
🚨BREAKING!🚨
Today the Department for Transport and
@ASLEFunion
agreed a deal to recommend to members and end the strikes.
We promised we’d move fast and fix things and that is what we’ve done.
In addition to the Montgomery show I attended the El Sueno Festival in Machynlleth on Saturday.
The brilliant festival celebrates a wealth of culture from Latin America and was originally founded in honour of Chilean Victor Jara, who was murdered by forces of Pinochet.
I have enjoyed reading comments over the course of the campaign and wanted to reply to an old friend about whether I can still do backflips.
The answer unfortunately is no.
But I’m having a cracking time on the campaign trail.
Running through the heartland of Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr, the River Severn has been called the most polluted river in Britain.
We know who is to blame for this - the party that's been in power for 14 years.
Will you trust them with another 5 years?
Election day is tomorrow.
The responses on the doorstep have been fantastic, including in Pont Adam, Ruabon yesterday.
You can find your polling station for tomorrow here -
Vote for change. Vote Labour on July 4.
A major issue for residents in Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr is the condition of our rivers.
I welcome the proposals in the Kings Speech to strengthen powers of the water regulator.
Change will only happen if you vote for it.
This Thursday we can say goodbye to the Tories. Goodbye to the sleaze, goodbye to those who partied while we were in lockdown, and goodbye to those who gambled away our future.
Vote Labour on July 4.
The Ceiriog Valley in the north of the constituency is a perfect reminder of the importance of investing in our future.
Protecting our environment will be one of my top priorities if elected as your MP.
Another good day at Johnstown Carnival yesterday.
Thank you to the organisers.
The funds the Carnival raises always goes to great causes. Starting 4 years ago to raise money for a Johnstown defibrillator, there are now 4 across the Johnstown, Pant, Ponciau, and Rhos area.
Always great to be out in Newtown and to visit the Robert Owen Museum.
I'm reminded of his life’s work - he knew that that working people were the backbone of society.
If elected as your MP, I will always put working people first.
At the Llanidloes hustings I reaffirmed my support for 16- and 17-year-olds to have the right to vote.
Labour is the party of reform, we just need to look at Wales, where this has already happened.
Join my campaign and vote Labour on July 4
Don’t waste the opportunity to be free of the sleaze and corruption that has consumed this country over the last 14 years.
Here in Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr the Tories can still win.
Labour can beat them, but only if you vote for it.
Throughout the campaign I have received countless endorsements from many wonderful people. I couldn’t be more grateful.
As a campaign we have focused on bringing change and renewal to Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
We need change. Vote Labour on July 4.
The Shadow Welsh Secretary's comments are disgusting, misguided and dangerous. Racist violence is never justified.
Politicians, including unelected ones, have an important responsibility to de-escalate tensions. Those inflaming them should seriously consider their position.

We are now Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
What does this mean?
It means only Labour can defeat the Tories here now.
Any vote that isn't for Labour, risks keeping the Tories in power.
In Cefn Mawr yesterday talking to voters on the doorstep.
As always I am privileged to be joined by some wonderful volunteers.
We are working hard for every vote ahead of July 4th.
And the truth is if you want the Tories out, Vote Labour!
I hope that the judicial review will bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding the decision to close Welshpool's Air Ambulance base. My thanks to the campaigners who have brought the challenge.
Mid and North Wales must have reliable cover. Timely care saves lives.
At Montgomery show with mayor Rob Harper and county councillor Jeremy Brignell-Thorp.
A special shout-out to the organisers for a brilliant show and for the exemplary organisation of the refuse, the best I've ever seen at a festival or show.
Up and down this amazing constituency I have been listening to local concerns from people on the doorstep, taking them onboard and developing plans on what I can do to deliver for you if elected as your MP.
I hope I can earn your vote on July 4.
While he may have shot himself in the foot with the ‘flutter’, Craig Williams remains on the ballot and could still win.
Labour is the only progressive voice that can finally replace the Tories in Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
In 1924, 390,296 women from Wales signed an appeal to the women of America calling for world peace.
I was honoured to celebrate these women last week at Gregynog Hall.
A message of peace very much still as urgent today as it was then.
From Rhos and Ruabon to Llanfyllin and Llangurig, in Chirk, Cefn, Welshpool, Machynlleth, and everywhere in between.
I will be an MP for all of Montgomeryshire & Glyndŵr. I will fight tirelessly to secure our place in a more prosperous, safer, and greener Wales.
Rishi Sunak cannot say Yes or No when asked if he told Craig Williams about the election date.
We in Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr can say NO to Craig Williams by voting for Labour on July 4th.
A fantastic day in Rhostyllen over the weekend with
@IanByrneMP
and
@CThomasMS
.
The responses on the doorstep are fantastic and people across the constituency are eager for change.
Vote for it on July 4. Vote Labour.
Tomorrow myself and
@MontyLabour
will have a stall at Berriew Show. It’s the 75th anniversary and bound to be a great event.
Hope to see you all there.
See details here -
Wonderful to be out in Welshpool and to receive the endorsement of Dave France, the first Labour Deputy Mayor of Welshpool.
I am committed to our towns and working to see greater interconnected transport.
Vote Labour on July 4.
When it comes to devolution, I support the democratic mandate given to the Senedd and people of Wales.
It would be my honour if elected to be the strongest possible voice for Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
The Tories cannot be trusted with protecting the environment.
If elected as your MP, I will fight to preserve our natural environment, invest in green energy, reinvest profits, vote for Great British Energy, and protect farmers and the countryside.
July 4th is less than two weeks away.
Two weeks before we can kick out the Tories and get this country back on track.
On the doorstep voters are eager for change, a change I promise to deliver.

When Labour are in charge, things run better.
This last week I was out in Ruabon ward. A Labour ward where local issues never came up on the doorstep.
Peoples concerns are at the national level.
Let's elect a Labour government to Westminster!
A lovely day campaigning yesterday even in the rain.
Brilliant to spend time with Labour campaigners who came out to give the campaign a brilliant cheer!
The Tory betting scandal has left a stain on Rishi Sunak's Conservative Party. Rather than taking action, the Prime Minister has dithered for almost two weeks.

This Thursday myself and
@MontyLabour
will have a stall at the Guilsfield show.
I look forward to meeting everyone in the community and enjoying all the show has to offer.
During the pandemic, my wife underwent treatment for breast cancer.
I saw the NHS at its very best and it is my deep conviction that it must always remain a publicly funded and universal service.
Read my thoughts here -
As a trade unionist since the age of 19, and a current executive member of my trade union, I will back public sector workers, stand up for workers rights, and support restrictions on shameful corporate lobbying.

Extremely well attended meeting to discuss the proposed downgrading of Llanidloes Hospital on Friday evening.
Lots of residents and medical professionals expressing their concerns about the consultation. The meeting was brilliantly chaired by Mayor Jamie Jones.
The feeling of being forgotten is widespread in Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr. I feel it to
If elected, I will fight to get our share of the £195 million the Labour manifesto commits to being invested in Welsh public services.
Tomorrow, vote for change. Vote Labour.
People across Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr deserve a Member of Parliament that puts them first. A Labour government will never gamble with our future.

As a secondary school teacher in the area one of the best things about speaking to voters has been coming across old pupils and their parents.
We are working hard for every vote.

Rishi’s Sunak has reminded us tonight what he did during Covid.
Let’s remember he was fined by the police for violating lockdown.
While you and I followed the rules to keep people safe.

My dad helped found the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth - my connection to this wonderful part of Wales is rooted in respect for the environment.
As a father and teacher, I want our children to inherit a healthy planet.
I will work tirelessly to ensure Labour governments in Westminster and Cardiff Bay work side by side to tackle the issues facing us.
If elected, I will always be a strong voice for Wales and for Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr in Westminster.
It was a transformative Labour government that created the NHS in 1945.
I believe in Aneurin Bevan's founding principles: "..no society can legitimately call itself civilised if a sick person is denied medical aid because of lack of means."
Out in Machynlleth on Saturday meeting voters eager to vote Labour and bring about change.
I will also add that Machynlleth holds a special place in my heart as it was my father who helped establish the Centre for Alternative Technology.
Looking forward to my next visit!
A trip to Mid Wales arts is something everyone should undertake.
It serves to highlight the tremendous potential at play here in the constituency.
Investing in the future is what you can expect with a Labour government.
Trade unions founded the Labour Party.
I will always stand in solidarity and show my fraternal support to those standing on the picket line.
Earlier in the campaign, I visited those taking industrial action at Ceramtec demanding better pay.
Always great to meet new members of the party.

There is a simple question to ask at this election.
Do you feel better off now than you did 14 years ago?
If your answer is no, then make sure the Tories are voted out in Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.
Vote for the only party that can beat them. Vote Labour.
We urgently need better mental health support across the country.
If elected, I will fight to end the stigma around mental health and demand a greater focus on preventative support.
A great honor to receive the endorsement of local environmental activist Dave France.
And a real pleasure talking to him about the future of our planet and the urgent need for green investment.
I will make the environment one of my top priorities if elected your MP.
Our campaign to elect a Labour MP in Montgomeryshire & Glyndŵr has begun.
On Saturday I was out in Johnstown talking local issues with voters energized by the opportunity for change.
July 4th cannot come soon enough.
Vote Labour🌹
Labour has brought Britain back from the brink before and we will do so again.
With Labour governments in Westminster, Cardiff Bay, and with a Labour MP in Montgomeryshire & Glyndŵr, we will work together to bring about a decade of renewal.
Only Labour can win here.
Combatting climate change is essential to securing our future prosperity and security.
I will make the environment one of my top priorities if elected as your MP. A vote for me is a vote for a stronger, greener, and fairer Montgomeryshire & Glyndŵr.
