@AnInnes3 @uncle_deluge That split in IE speakers can also probably be seen in Y chromosome haplogroups, being R1b and R1a majoritary among CW folk, and J2a and J2b in Balkan Yamnaya folk.

@delBolanos10 @Sulkalmakh @nrken19 J haplogroups are of CHG origin. Considering that CHG is one of the main ancestries among PIE/Steppe, I don't find it strange to find J hg among them. The most common hg is R1b, but in the last few years more and more samples have been found with different haplogroups.

@AMacthomas36016 @SmudgeHolden @Tom_Rowsell They definitely are. Sardinians are basically Late Neolithic EEFs. Basques are Iberians who have been isolated since the Iron Age and retained their matrilineal pre-IE language.
