Understanding and appreciating Kendrick’s half time show or trying to understand and appreciating his show are the only acceptable answers if you wanna be my friend. (I don’t have a lot of friends)

Great 🧵 on Kendrick’s performance from students.
I don’t have a fancy lesson about the #SuperBowlHalftimeShow Before I showed it, I instructed students to write down three words / document when they noticed them: •imagery •symbolism •message We watched once all the way through, then we broke down where my students noted. +

@ToastLancerGJ @michelle_byoung It has been so gratifying to see the Black community being lifted up by such revered artists. White people need to learn that everything isn’t for us. Doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy it though 🇺🇸💙

@ToastLancerGJ @michelle_byoung Yes and I’ve enjoyed it so much because I love his message. And I feel the same about Cowboy Carter, both of these artists are taking back these genres for the Black community and I love this for them. 💙🇺🇸

It exposes who is interested in learning and who isn’t. My hubby liked the show but didn’t understand it so we’re gonna go over Kendrick’s lyrics together because he WANTS to understand. 👇
Older B folks unsure about Kendrick’s performance were experiencing an authentic generational divide that quickly gets cleared up if u share the think pieces. W folks complaining are mad it wasn’t a geriatric classic rock snooze fest they HATE not being centered.

It’s literally our problem to fix and until we understand that, we’re not heading anywhere good. 👇
Only W folks can change the trajectory of the US. This is backlash from the civil rights era as long as the MAJORITY of them would rather be White than FREE this doesn’t get better. The W folks who believe in multicultural democracy have to take power away from the 1s that don’t

They said this over and over but poc ignored them cuz they think they know better
We told other POC after we saw how they voted, when Trump comes for you, don't ask us for 💩because we tried to stop this from happening to you. We told them, "You're on your own now". We meant that! And that's why you don't see Black people mobilizing for other POC.
