I no longer have a job because I couldn’t take the abuse and gaslighting I got for expressing my view that men are not and can never be women, that sex is real and matters, and for publishing books which share that perspective.
I have lodged a claim at the employment tribunal against my former employer, Hachette, on the grounds of sex and belief discrimination - full story below. I need to raise money towards legal fees. If you can share and/or donate, that would be brilliant💜
Never forget the academic philosophers who signed an open letter accusing Kathleen Stock of ‘transphobic scare-mongering’ when she talked about the risks to women in prison posed by self-ID.
It took less than a day to raise enough money to carry on with the case. I am so grateful to everyone who reposted, pledged, made good jokes, admired my dog, gave me brilliant advice, and has been standing alongside me for years. We are many, they are few. 💚🤍💜
I don’t want anyone to lose their jobs for expressing their (lawful) views. But I do want employers to start explaining to staff how the Equality Act works. Which could be a problem when many HR depts don’t seem to understand it themselves.
This week, sales of
#MaterialGirls
by Kathleen Stock have broken 20k in the home market across all editions (hb, ebook, audio). Heartening that people want to read for themselves what she has to say.
Owen? Jolyon? Emma? Anyone? Even Starbucks or Wagamama ffs? National Lottery? Surely you need to speak out re the hateful attacks on the charity you have repeatedly told us is saving young people’s lives?
Just cancelled my 'premium tier' subscription to
@guardian
. I probably should have done it ages ago, but today is the absolute end. I won't be trolled by this joke of a paper any more.
The Women’s Prize wasn’t set up ‘to bring marginalised writers to readers’ attention’, as stated on the Faber blogpost. It was set up to address the massive imbalance between men and women on literary prize shortlists, in particular, the Booker.
A man who says he is a doctor mocking a woman who has campaigned for lesbian rights for decades and nearly broke down at a tribunal yesterday as the Mermaids counsel tried to bully and humiliate her (unsuccessfully). Is this ok with you,
@gmcuk
?
I am amazed and grateful at the response to the crowdfunder. Going to walk the dog now, and bask in how brilliant people can be. Back later. Thank you.
I’m genuinely shocked to see a writer who has sold millions of books and is good friends with some powerful politicians tweet approvingly about the practice of blacklisting people for their lawful views. Does she think these people will never come for her?
The people in and around publishing who blocked me/slagged me off/called the manager because I published a book about feminism and reality and argued that biology matters have nothing to say about Adam Graham. Like, nothing. Weird.
Cheers to the scammers who persuaded my 91-year-old mother to get a cab 5 miles to her bank yesterday. It didn’t go far enough for her to lose any of her money, thank god, but I am *raging*. She knows to be very careful, and still they got her.
I was
@Kings_College
in the late 80s, and there was an active women's group. One of the events we held was to celebrate 15 years of women having been admitted (in 1972). FIFTEEN YEARS. Five years after I was born. It felt as though barriers had fallen for ever. So...
Today is thank you
@bindelj
day - and thank you to all of the women who have spent decades campaigning for some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in society - women in prison.
I have published *one* book about women’s rights, trans rights & reconciling the two, Material Girls by Kathleen Stock. It came out in 2021. It contains no hate. This person thinks that makes the imprint I set up in 2016 ‘a TERF imprint’ and me & my employers ‘hate-mongers’.
Yeah, if it was ever true that women don’t understand how much men hate them, it’s not any more. Being gaslit by the IOC and the BBC and innumerable dumb slebs all at once really helps clarify things.
@Kings_College
So, it's no longer a women's dinner.
@Kings_College
was founded in 1441. Some 530 years later, women were admitted, and allowed to organize on their own account. That was permitted to continue for about 45 years, and has now come to an end.
I’ve had fish and chips on a Scottish trawler, a balti in Birmingham and a cream tea in Devon.
Most of all I have enjoyed talking and debating with members of the public about the changes I want to make if I become Prime Minister.

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. This account will be naming a woman murdered by a man in the last year every five minutes, starting at 8am. It will take until after 4pm to memorialise each one.
25 November 2021: Malak Adabzadeh, also known as Katy, 47, was beaten to death with an unidentified weapon at her home in Liverpool. Her husband, Mohammad Ureza Azizi, 57, was convicted of murder and sentenced to 16 years

I’ll tell you who’s exhausted
@keirstarmer
- women who have been working and organising for *years* to protect our rights from people and politicians who treat them as contingent on their approval and as chips in some kind of rights poker.
@Kings_College
Women are now grouped with 'gender minorities' (no definition given) and nonbinary people (no definition given) for a dinner to mark
#IWD
. Attendees literally do not have even to 'identify' as women in order to attend. The category is now meaningless.
Yup. Hounded out is presented as my hysterical interpretation of events; alleged transphobia is a neutral description of the accusation against me. The Bookseller is making my case for me about institutional bias in publishing.
Not exactly even-handed approach to this story by The Bookseller. Ursula Doyle was 'hounded out' in inverted commas but allegations that her views were transphobic apparently don't require them.

...you need to look at what you are teaching people at one of the most prestigious universities in the world, and if nothing else, consider how it might affect your alumni donations. You can cross me off your Xmas call list, for a start.
@Kings_College
...put in and the sacrifices made by generations of women who fought for the right to equal education. It's a massive, unforgivable insult. Shame on you,
@Kings_College
, and before you bleat about its being organized by students and the 'Gender Equality Officers' of the union...
This book, Hags, is about the vilification of middle-aged women across centuries. I don’t know how this man is connecting it to ‘a moral panic harming the Trans, NB & LGBTQ+’, nor to a tragic murder, but he is helpfully illustrating the thesis 👍
@Kings_College
I would be v interested to know how
@Kings_College
treat the category of 'woman' for the purposes of data collection. Among other things. But aside from the administrative nightmare this bogus recategorisation creates, this travesty is actively undoing that work...
So sad to hear about the death of Carmen Callil. What a life; what a woman. Virago changed everything for publishing, for writers, and for editors. And she was fearless.
@Kings_College
...imagine my surprise and dismay to receive an invitation to this year's women's dinner, to celebrate International Women's Day, 'open to all self-defining women and non-binary King's Members', pre-dinner entertainment provided by the Women and Gender Minorities Choir.
The usual silence today from people in and around publishing who have slagged off, blocked and misrepresented their colleagues and the authors who hold different views from theirs on women’s rights.
I will always remember that some ‘progressive’ men seized the first available opportunity to undermine women’s rights and protections. Our rights are conditional on their consent, and that makes me feel ill.
1) it’s not an address, it is an interview, as she said this a.m. 2) she doesn’t claim she has a special right to ‘upset’ people; she thinks arguments stand or fall on their merits, irrespective of who is ‘upset’.
My schnauzer and a visiting wowser (westie-schnauzer cross), for those who enjoy 🐶 content. Thank you to everyone who helped to get the crowdfunder to its initial target. I am eternally grateful💜
Congratulations to

who has been shortlisted for the Nero Book Awards 2023 in the Non Fiction category for HAGS. Category award winners announced 16th January.
Dear
@BBCPolitics
, why are you asking us if we have suggestions for naming the PM's dog at the beginning of a week which could define the country's fate for the next few decades? Have you lost it completely? Did Dom ask you to do it? I am at a complete loss.
Simon Pegg talking about Tom Cruise in today’s Times. I can’t decide what is more terrifying - that TC behaves like this (predictable I suppose), or that SP finds it admirable.
Our darling Ed, my nephew, much missed. He died on 3 March 2010 aged 11 of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. He was brave and hilarious, and would have been a brilliant chef/cricketer/comedian.
Boxing Day cricket on the beach ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve found a single-sex space that isn’t routinely surrounded by men screaming abuse at its members, covered in graffiti and subjected to harassment through the courts.
HF writes about the peaks and troughs since Cass, brilliantly describing Anneliese Dodds as ‘reliably ill-advised’. And describes my case against Hachette. I am still raising money to take it forward - thanks to all the generous donors so far.
Today’s
@thetimes
column: it’s been 100 days since the Cass Report was published. The events of the past week confirm two things: the gender ideologues are getting more desperate, but children will now be safer
Jeez, the S Times report. Where to start. Perhaps with the complete absence of women. Then you remember the most senior woman in cabinet is Priti Patel. And they have managed to come up with a macho term for risking lives: ‘running hot’. Unbearable.
Please contribute to Lizzy's Crowdfunder. Her case begins in 2 weeks & she is just 10K short of her target. If you can't speak out about the current discrimination against women, donating to Lizzy is a way of giving anonymous support. See link for details:
While we always welcome the launch of a new imprint we are concerned that the founder of Black Crow Books has a pinned tweet telling us to "get f***d" in contravention of the Equality Act 2010
God grant me the serene arrogance of Leo Varadkar and Humza Yousaf, the first of whom is unbothered by his ignorance of a notorious case in Ireland, the latter managing to admit the legislation he supported was wrong, while massively patronising those who pointed it out.
I am beyond delighted that the legendary writer Jayne Anne Phillips has won a Pulitzer for her latest novel,
#NightWatch
, which I acquired and published
@fleetreads
. Becoming her UK publisher was a dream come true, and this win is fantastic news. Congratulations
@jayneanneonly
!
These people have been after me since I acquired Kathleen Stock’s book. They naturally never mention any of the other great books on the list, brilliant work by brilliant writers. Because books aren’t what they are interested in.
During his speech at the British LGBT Awards, David Tennant told Tory politician Kemi Badenoch to 'shut up'
'Until we wake up and Kemi Badenoch doesn’t exist anymore… I don’t wish ill of her, I just wish her to shut up'
