Agreed. It worked for me in last 4 prelims that I cleared with sufficient margins: Approx 80% time to revise static and 20% to current affairs (in a decreasing preference S&T > IR/Mapping > Environment > others- GI tags/ reports/ polity CA etc. etc.)

Most common mistake done by aspirants while preparing for UPSC Prelims is to focus more current affairs and to ignore the static portion. Make sure you have absolute command over static syllabus- then add on it with current affairs.
