Ever had your writing flow completely derailed while looking for a crucial detail from another doc?
Yeah, us too.
Enter Strut's collaborative AI.
Instantly bring up a note from any doc.
Here's a detailed breakdown👇
AI can't magically generate a headline that'll knock your socks off.
But it can brainstorm thought-starters to spark your next best work (AKA: the actual magical thing you're known for).
Nudge Strut to brainstorm based on your notes, ideas, and other docs.
What’s the hardest part about writing?
We ran a poll, and “just getting started” was the clear winner.
Which raises an important question:

One way to avoid that “blank slate dread”? CMDK.
Hit CMDK in Strut to create a rough outline based on one or multiple docs in your workspace.
Then, start working your✨
@strut_ai
This is a great question! I always argue against starting with a blank document. I like to start by gathering quotes/statistics, and then create an outline. When I can see what I need to get done, it’s a lot easier to keep going!
And little treats as rewards go a long way!
New in Strut this week:
✎ GPT-4o
✎ Slash Menu
✎ Hide Workspaces
✎ Instant Image Uploads
✎ New Formatting Options
✎ More CMDK Improvements

“I’m excited about the product because it fits our thesis that AI can help people be more creative and productive instead of trying to replace them.”
Nailed it. A big thank you to
@tonidotorg

Prefer the light for sparkling creative flow? ☀️
Pick a side or go back and forth 🌗
Dark Mode is now live in Strut!
Take a look 👉
Focus Mode gives you a simple, crisp space to work your magic.
Start typing and UI elements subtly disappear.
It's the first step of many in creating the most focused writing environment ever. More to come...
Ask any writer... Tab switching across docs kills writing flow and creativity.
That's why Workspaces keep every project doc in one tidy place.
Create a pre-designed or custom Workspace for any kind of writing.
Then, get cracking on your next best work✨
Results are in! The hardest part of writing is...
Getting Started
One way to start faster? Work from a rough draft
CMD+K's got your back with this one. Instantly create a draft from your docs to get work moving.
As one writer put it: "It eliminated writer dread."
New in Strut: Kanban Workspaces
With Kanban, you can now visualize your writing projects in a whole new way. Easily drag documents across stages, keep work moving forward, and stay in sync with others.

Big thanks to David Pierce and
@verge
for featuring Strut in issue 34 of The Installer!
You guys probably don't know this about me, but I'm a bit of a scatterbrain. So I need a system in place to manage the chaos that is freelance writing and newsletter running.

Inbox (the new homepage for Strut), allows you to open the app and immediately jot down ideas and notes.
Notes are automatically organized in a daily timeline.
And when you're ready, turn those notes into projects. Strut lets you write first and organize later.

Inbox is a subtle yet foundational change that sets up many of our upcoming note-taking and fast capture features.
Give it a try and let us know your thoughts!
It's free and takes under 9 seconds to get started👉
Inbox is now the first screen you'll see in Strut.

Inbox is automatically organized by day, so you can quickly revisit previous notes and ideas.
@anghollowell
Lovely, thank you
@anghollowell
! Agree—messy is 100% okay and necessary. Seeking perfection in the earliest stages of writing radically slows creative inertia

So lovely! There’s such incredible value in the process, and not just the end result.
Another reason why writing is too damn important to automate ❤️
Subscribed btw!
Focus Button
A handful of users told us that Focus Modes were too subtle and hidden. Noted and updated.
Switch document Focus Modes with the circle button in the upper right.
Remember: you can also use CTRL + and CTRL -
Collapsible Stages
Workspaces with many documents were looking cluttered.
We added Collapsible Stages to List and Grid views for a tidier, less overwhelming experience.
