This is my Victim Impact Statement. It has taken me from about Spring Break to Mid June to write this. All these words come from the bottom of my heart, and I hope you’ll respect them. I love Georgia Tech, but there is something fundamentally wrong when much of the women I meet

Everyone old in the comments on the OG post being like “my parents had 6 kids and one bathroom in one of these houses and we survived” we can’t even afford kids Debra
The median one bedroom in Atlanta, Georgia is close to $1700. With minimum wage here ($7.25), you would need to work 234 hours to make that, which is 5.86 40/hr weeks. It’s not even possible to work harder!
People think I’m joking when I say Atlanta is unwalkable, unbikable, and undrivable but 100% mean it you can’t walk/bike anywhere without almost getting run over or walking forever and you can’t drive anywhere without going on like 3 different interstates and almost getting hit
are also going through a Title IX case. VOICE is an amazing resource, but it’s not enough. Georgia Tech and its Greek Life orgs need to do better to create a culture that prevents sexual assault and believe victims. I hope this encourages other people to tell their story as well.

Right like hearing about racism and how “you’re so above it” doesn’t actually make me feel better! I’d rather not hear about the racism at all. Hearing something racial hurts my feelings actually and idk why that’s such a crazy concept for people to imagine
My Uber driver talking to me the whole ride home about how Georgia tech is his team bc when he first came to America, it was the first team he heard on the radio and telling me about how the football team can become better
One of the best things I did with GT is go on a Sustainability (SLS) tour in 2019 and we looked at the areas around Proctor Creek and Bankhead with the local guides who have lived their all their life telling us about how those areas have been ignored by the govt and how environ

you’ve obviously never really given deep thought to this but if you are disabled, less cars on the roads mean more space for disabled people as well. There are many elderly and disabled people who would benefit from walking, over just a hostile car environment. Wagons exist.
I have an ex who I told I wouldn’t change my last name for cultural reasons (they don’t do that in my culture + I have a cultural connection to it) and he said he felt like he would be betrayed if his wife didn’t change her last name bc it wouldn’t feel as if she belonged to him
Nobody will remember:
- Your salary
- Your fancy title
- How ‘busy’ you were
- How stressed you were
- How many hours you worked
People will remember:
- what category you won in gt Twitter awards
