SW+ Alerts is a great source for instant warnings overnight (iOS or Android). However, we recommend you read this to make sure your alerts actually *wake* you:

SPC announced a Tornado Watch will likely be issued for us tonight. ETA for the main line is midnight, plus or minus a few hours. Have a way to get warnings and know where to shelter if warned. Lowest level, most walls between you and the outside.

Server has overloaded, preventing interaction with the app. All your settings are saved on the server, so even if you don't see your locations in-app, it knows them and can send alerts. Sincere apologies!
We're looking into a potential StormWatch+issue re: delivery/viewing of the tornado watch. The watch is so large, it is bogging down our server. We have an optimized set of code that is about a week from being deployed that would fix this very issue... sincere apologies. /EP

Wake low wind can be just as damaging as severe thunderstorm wind, only it usually comes by surprise, as rain is ending behind a storm system. Take this seriously, especially when the grid is already weak.
Just when we thought things were improving, they're deteriorating. Damaging winds occurring across Nashville metro and surrounding counties. This may worsen an already damaged power supply system. A wake low the day after a derecho is so 2020.

Please note, we use your phone's default notification for all alerts EXCEPT Tornado and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings. Those will rouse you from a deep sleep. And for good reason.

Our SW+ Alerts service, available in-app, provides loud audio for Tornado and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings as long as you leave your ringer ON and Do Not Disturb OFF. We're working with Apple to get approval to override those settings with our alerts.
Your NOAA weather radio and wake me up app 2 pronged warning system buys you two things. 1. Warnings/Alerts! Obviously important. 2. Sleep! With your shelter plan in place, you can sack out peacefully if that's your jam. Or just stay up all night with us waiting this thing out.

StormWatch+ does not make use of iOS’s Critical Alerts functionality, which is designed to override a silenced phone. No offense to StormWatch+, but I would not trust it to wake me up. Hopefully they can add that functionality soon. I know they need approval from Apple to do so.
