Israel has actually kept the ceasefire deal and evacuated from the Netzarim corridor, a huge deal. Given the condition of the last batch of released hostages, seems possible Hamas trying to delay the next release to improve the appearance/condition of the next ones coming out.

Pathetic from @DavidLammy How much more evidence does he want that UNRWA are hand in glove with Hamas before he will stop the UK funding them? Wore a yellow ribbon to meet the Israelis. Took it off when he met Abbas.

After 491 days of agony, 3 more hostages - including Eli Sharabi who has strong UK links - have finally been released. They and their families have suffered an unimaginable ordeal. The ceasefire deal must be implemented in full, including the release of the remaining hostages.

Today, Israeli hostage Eli Sharabi was returned. Hamas killed his wife and two daughters, pictured below, as well as his brother in captivity who was kidnapped with him, and they also shot and killed his dog. As you can see from Eli's physicals health, he almost did not make it also. When they found his murdered wife and daughters, they were huddled in their mother's arms as though she was trying to protect them. She died trying to save them. As Eli is being released, Hamas forces him to tell the world that he is happy to go back to his wife and children, whom they had not told that they had killed, as a form of psychological torture, while his abusers parade him on a public stage with a certificate for his time in captivity and the world looks on, indifferent to the sickest, darkest, Black Mirror episode of reality. Not only that, but 9 wounded hostages were exchanged for 112 terrorists who had committed at least one or more acts of murder, meaning not only do the hostages have to live with the fact that they were kidnapped and their families were murdered by terrorists, they are forced to serve as the bargaining chip to exchange for the same terrorists that have killed their families and friends. I will never forgive anyone who used the term "resistance" or "liberation movement" within 100 miles of Hamas. There is no equivalent to the evil of radical Islamists in our time. None. If you’re so sure you’re on “the right side of history,” explain it to your maker. To those of you who said “never again” after the Holocaust and wondered what you would’ve done had you been alive, your silence as Jews emerge from Auschwitzian terror tunnels is your answer.

Spent many Saturday afternoons whilst at uni watching Bristol Rovers. Used to stand on the steps where the main stand had burnt down, and walk across the pitch to the car park afterwards #properfootball

BLASTS FROM THE PAST Taken in 1987, this is Eastville, former home of Bristol Rovers. The club played here from 1897 but it was also a greyhound stadium, hence the track around the pitch. The club left in 1986 but dogs continued until 2001, after which a retail park was built.

Just read the hugely insightful Ghost of a Holy War by @yardenas Essential reading to understand the current crisis - and demonstrates how history can repeat itself. Clear that both sides need to fundamentally change, but also stresses the importance of accurate reporting

Just finishing Ghosts of a Holy War an excellent & vivid account of the 1929 Arab riots against the still-small Jewish community incited by claims of the Mufti of Jerusalem that al-Aqsa was in peril (the Jews wanted more access to the Western Wall - hence its Arab name the Buraq Uprising ) & the resulting massacres in Hebron & Safed in which beheadings rapes and body mutilations were reminiscent of the Oct7 killings. A difference between 2023 and 1929 was that then many of the Jews in Hebron survived because they were hidden in the homes of kindly Arab neighbours. It marked the rejection by some (but not all) key Arab leaders of the possibility of coexistence between Arabs & Jews and in turn its brutality enabled the rise of Jewish leaders who embraced a more military Zionism. The 1929 Events helped radicalize both communities in different ways, casting a long shadow. Thats why this book @yardenas is a recommended read to understand not just the history that is so often neglected but also what is happening now

.@Keir_Starmer Why are you funding UNRWA facilities that were used by terrorists to hold your own citizen Emily hostage? If UNRWA has 13,000 staff in Gaza, why didn't a single one of these so-called humanitarian aid workers try to help rescue Emily or any of the other hostages?
