I'm just so happy I didn't have to figure out the circumference of a circle while reporting this story with @DanaGoldstein. What is Pi again?

Thank you @jimdao for your courage and your dedication to upholding the principles we value, including the right to hear diverse voices.
@DamonLinker @jimdao @RubensteinAdam @nytopinion Very much agree. A strong paper and strong democracy does not shy from many voices. And this one had clear news value.

A look with @jwpetersNYT on how voters in Port Huron view @realDonaldTrump and his recent tirades against four women members of Congress. They're willing to over look his petulance as long as local factories are hiring.
In Michigan, some voters who supported the president in 2016 have largely overlooked his attacks against 4 freshman congresswomen, voicing strong support for President Trump's re-election

With Putin invading Ukraine, thought I would re-up this piece on Russian investment in NYC condos that @louisestory and I wrote in 2015. Does Putin, himself, have a NYC condo through an LLC? Who knows.

Anyone having trouble voting, please give me a call at 917-453-7047. I'm with The New York Times and we're doing reporting on this topic.
#IllinoisPrimary voting in Chicago is an absolute mess. Found out last night our polling place had changed — not from the city but via a random text from a voting org. Went to new polling place this morning, and they didn’t yet have proper ballots for our precinct.

The @nytimes building at 620 8th Avenue must be pretty empty this week as members of the @NYTimesGuild continue to work remotely. All we want is a fair contract.
The @nytimes is giving employees branded lunch boxes this week as a return-to-office perk. We want respect and a fair contract instead — so I’m working from home this week along with 1,300 of my @NYTimesGuild and @NYTGuildTech colleagues, with support from @WirecutterUnion.

After 20 months of negotiations, today I joined more than 1,000 of my @NYTimesGuild colleagues in pledging to walk out if @nytimes does not agree to a complete and fair contract by Dec. 8. Enough is enough.

Proud to be among those signing this letter. We are journalists, not activists, and that line has to remain clear. And thanks to @jwpetersNYT for drafting this.
Dozens of New York Times staffers object to the NewsGuild of New York head's letter affirming the right to criticize the paper, amid a feud over trans coverage (@charlottetklein / Vanity Fair).

The @nytimes's union-busting decision to eliminate our Sports desk is out of bounds. I stand with more than 1,000 @NYTimesGuild, @WirecutterUnion + @NYTGuildTech members in demanding that Times management stop violating our contract and respect union work.
The @nytimes violated core principles of our contract with its decision to shutter our Sports desk and replace it with The Athletic. We will not stand for the company’s brazen union-busting or its attempts to pit workers against each other.

Our interview with @CoreyStewartVA, published this morning, looks at his white nationalist support and the dilemma his candidacy poses for @VA_GOP.
“I don’t have a racist bone in my body.” The New York Times looked at white nationalist support and ties to Corey Stewart, the Republican nominee for US Senate from Virginia, and talked to Stewart about his views on race.

Very saddened by the loss of reporter Timothy Williams, whose essence is captured in this thread by @derek_m_norman.
It's been a very tough week and a hard punch to the gut for many of us, learning that a close colleague, mentor and friend had died. Timothy Williams was my team leader over the past year, covering the impact of the coronavirus in prisons across the country

The fact I find most surprising in this fascinating piece by @ShaneGoldmacher and @kenvogel is not that Dems have overtaken Republicans in the dark money race, but that the Koch network helped fund @LJFamFoundation.

A story by @DanBarryNYT that could be told in dozens of towns all across the country.
He's the last reporter in Pottstown, Pa., where the once-proud newspaper - now owned by a hedge fund - is operating on fumes and his idealism. What's at stake? Only an informed electorate, government accountability, and a sense of community. My story:

In poking fun both @OleMiss (my alma mater) and @michaeloher1809, Michael Lewis reveals something about his own biases as the son of a New Orleans debutante and the graduate of an elite private high school and university. Thank you for this piece @espiers and @nytimes opinion.
OK, Harvard, it ain't. But as a former "dean's list" scholar at @OleMiss, I find Michael Lewis's comment, cited here, more than a bit offensive.

NEW: Claims of sexism during Bernie Sanders's 2016 campaign have surfaced ahead of 2020 bid. "Was it too male? Yes. Was it too white? Yes,” his campaign manager told us. “Would this be a priority to remedy on any future campaign? Definitely." w/ @ktbenner

Since @EricLiptonNYT mentioned Ms., I'll point out the stats in Union County, Ms., where I grew up. Of 28,507 residents, 4,936 have tested positive. Eighty people have died. Yet, even though the vaccine is widely available, only 34.4 percent are vaccinated.
In Mississippi, where governor has resisted a mandate for masks in public schools, over 4,500 students (& nearly 950 teachers/staff) have tested positive since Aug 9. Roughly 20,000 students, (4.5% of public school population) were in quarantine this past week due to exposure.

A disturbing story from @liamstack on the threats to New York's gay community.
My latest: there is a killer, or maybe more than one, stalking gay bars in NYC. At least 2 men were drugged, robbed using their phone’s facial recognition tech, and killed. More survived similar attacks, most recently on Nov 12. I spoke to 6 survivors.

Nearly a decade after my @NYT series with @louisestory, Towers of Secrecy, another milestone, albeit incremental, in the effort to rein in secret real estate ownership in NYC.
New York *will* create a database that lists the beneficial owners of LLCs, but you (the public) just won't be able to look at it. Hochul signed the LLC Transparency Act late yesterday, but not before she got the Legislature to agree to keeping the database private.
