Our state is at a point in its history that there is no choice but to retire its current state flag. The impending economic, social and cultural pressures are going to create a storm that this state cannot weather.

My wife makes fun of it, my kids won’t ride in it, but on days like these they are glad it can be used to get groceries!

It is now time, and I am convicted that changing the flag makes Alcorn County and Mississippi better.
Whenever my time in public service is complete, I want my children to look back and be proud of what I’ve done. A vote to keep the flag does not accomplish this goal.

Therefore, it is imperative that our legislature begins to consider options on how we replace the flag.
This is an emotional issue and the politically easy vote for me is to keep the flag. However, there comes a time when every generation must make a change for the better.

Today I joined my House colleagues, in voting for and passing SB 2536 which is a bill that prevents biological males from participating in female sports at school. As a father of a daughter, this bill provides protection and promotes fairness for all our children.

Earlier today Governor Reeves vetoed HB 980. This bill was particularly aimed at helping families receive medication that otherwise would not be available in Mississippi.
The bill passed both the House and the Senate unanimously.

Did you know that in Mississippi a person loses their right to vote if they are convicted of timber larceny, but if a person is convicted of possessing child pornography or human trafficking they can still vote?
I am committed to resolving this inconsistency in the law!
