i will never get over how he gives her a kiss and literally just rests there with his eyes closed as if he's content to just be in her presence forever
wait when he moves to caress her cheek he hesitates because he’s scared she’ll flinch but she doesn’t so he really gets to touch her tenderly one last time
this bitch could have had one of the biggest careers in Hollywood after Narnia if his agent hadn’t sent him to audition for the worst movies ever afterwards.
“an interesting choice” yeah like the whole reason the books are interesting is because Alina has that connection to The Darkling and somehow understands him despite them being on opposite sides. Idk why they chose to just get rid of it.
I’m very confused about what the show wanted to do with him. It felt like the writers didn’t understand the character at all and instead went full out with the villain trope. But it didn’t work at all because of his set up in season 1.
Not a fan of how
#ShadowAndBone
gave the Darkling the full Disabled Villain Trope treatment: Facial scars/deformity, amputation/hand prosthesis, even a chronic cough/illness - all to underline his malice. And then he's put to death like this

i figured out what bothered me the most with this season. it's that alina continuously dismisses the loss and pain aleksander has felt throughout his life, and that she has the gall? to say that he will never know her loss?
malyen had this info for YEARS and what did he do with it? NOTHING. aleksander? he sprints out to the nearest flower garden to pick up some blue irises for his woman the moment he knows
i also want to note that at no point does aleksander, here, say that they should work together. what he is doing, is offering her the chance to never be looked upon as a monster herself. that he will carry that for her as long as they're alive.
aleksander has spent centuries watching people and losing faith in them. people don't change, they were terrified of grisha, hunted them down, enslaved them, experimented on them. do you think he didn't try to take the peaceful route? he's a man at the end of his rope.

please like / rt if you download, and don't forget to tag me in those edits i want to see them all my lovelies <3.
i feel like this is the moment where he decides alina is bigger than even him. and even though he tries one last time later, you can see how he just gives in and has a genuine reaction instead of being furious that she has destroyed his creation. he's in awe of her.
