⚡️Following a series of pre-application consultation events, we’ve submitted a planning application to The Highland Council for the 400kV Carnaig substation project near Loch Buidhe in Sutherland. ⚙️ This substation is a crucial component of our proposed Spittal – Loch Buidhe – Beauly 400kV overhead line, aimed at delivering high-voltage, clean #RenewableEnergy to homes and businesses. Community Liaison Manager, Martin Godwin, commented: “Investing to upgrade our electricity transmission network is crucial if we are to achieve the country’s energy security and clean power objectives, and it’s also a major driver of jobs and economic activity locally and across the north of Scotland”. ➡️ To find out more, visit:

⚡️Our Rothienorman substation is now helping to deliver long-term grid stability with the energisation of Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners and Welsh Power’s synchronous condenser. This cutting-edge technology provides inertia - a stabilising force traditionally supplied by fossil fuels - to keep the grid secure as we help deliver more renewable power in support of national clean energy and energy security ambitions. 👏At SSEN Transmission, we’re proud to support projects like this that reduce reliance on fossil fuels and help build a cleaner, more reliable electricity network. ➡️ Read more:

💻 Join us to hear about our ambitious blueprint to unlock the unprecedented levels of investment required to help achieve UK and Scottish Government climate change and energy security targets. Our plans will support the pathway to net zero emissions and the UK Government’s Clean Power by 2030 policy. Our comprehensive plan, recently submitted to Ofgem, aims to deliver over £22 billion of critical grid infrastructure, with the potential for an additional £9.4 billion investment through future Uncertainty Mechanism expenditure, totalling around £31.7 billion. Our Plan is underpinned by three ambitious goals: ⚡ Reliable Energy, with an ambition for zero interruptions in electricity supply to homes and businesses due to the north of Scotland transmission network. 🌿 Clean Power, with the north of Scotland transmission network having the capability to meet 20% of GB demand for clean power. 🫂 Our Legacy, to drive investments in the energy transition that delivers transformative lasting benefits for local communities, the economy and nature. In addition, economic analysis forecasts that this investment will also provide significant job creation, community benefit funding, economic growth and at least 1,000 new homes in the north of the Scotland. ➡️ You can read the plan in full here: 💻 Webinar Details: 🗓️ Monday 27 January 2025 🕐 2.00 to 3.00 pm 💻 Platform: Microsoft Teams - Please ensure you have the latest version of Microsoft Teams downloaded to your desktop to access the session. ❗ Registration for the event closes at on 22 January at 5pm. ➡️ Register here:

🚛 Check out this video of two new transformers to our Errochty Grid Supply Point on the move! 💡The two 90MVA transformers have been safely delivered to the Errochty site near Tummel Bridge, marking a major milestone in the Errochty Grid Supply Point upgrade. 👷‍♀️ The delivery was a complex operation which took months in planning, involving close coordination with @PoliceScotland, Local Authorities and @transcotland, with specialist haulier JB Rawcliffe & Sons Ltd safely transporting the transformers on 12-axle trailers. 🔋 These transformers will enhance the site’s capacity and reliability, enabling more renewable energy from the nearby Tummel Hydro Power Station to flow into the grid. This upgrade will extend the site, install new switchgear, and create a new Grid Supply Point (GSP) to meet growing demand. 👏 A huge thank you to all involved in delivering this key piece towards the project as we work to deliver clean power and reliable electricity network.
