An ad in a sweet shop window led to

meeting up in a Blackheath pub on March 26, 1973. 50 years and 15 albums later we’re still celebrating that moment and looking to the future! (…thanks Chris for reminding us!)

A Squeeze classic, released as a UK single 43 years ago this week.

Squeeze's album 'East Side Story' was released on this day in 1981. Would you describe it as "seminal", "breakthrough", "classic", or "masterpiece"? Have a listen and let us know:
The "Hourglass" music video features bendy instruments, a fish-phone, and all sorts of visual and camera trickery. Remind yourself of the height of '80s music videos with a watch at
Today we celebrate 'Cool For Cats' - Squeeze's breakthrough album was released this day in 1979. Was this your first Squeeze album, or were you there from the very start? Have a listen:
The version of 'Tempted' that appears on East Side Story was actually the result of an impromptu playthrough; it was producer
@ElvisCostello
that suggested
@PCarrack
sing the track when they recorded this arrangement. Watch the full remastered video at
We're excited about our video remaster for 'Black Coffee in Bed' - this has never been previously available online in any official or high-quality capacity. That's changed now with the HD remastered video finally available on our official YouTube channel!

“They do it down on Camber Sands...” it’s 38 years ago this week that Pulling Mussels (From the Shell) was released in the UK, on 2 May 1980. Here are just some of the record covers from all over the world.

40 years ago this week all the promotional singles had been sent out and Tempted was getting its first radio plays in advance of its release a week later.
Who remembers the first time they heard it on the radio?
There are so many 'classic' optical illusions in the "Hourglass" music video we didn't know which we should feature first - so here's a super-cut of our favourites! What did we miss out?
The "Cradle to the Grave" video features a time-jumping band at various stages of their lives, but did you know that many of the actors (and audience) are actual relatives of the various Squeeze members? Have a watch at and see if you can guess who is who!

It’s 42 years since Pulling Mussels (From the Shell) somehow failed to get into the UK top 40. Here’s wishing you all a great summer - whether it’s Camber Sands or Waikiki.

“Some Fantastic Place” was released on this day in 1993; an album which saw the brief return of
@PCarrack
to the band, and a title track that remains one of the band’s favourite songs ever. Do you agree with the band on that one?

A big "Thank You" to everyone who came out to see us on the Food For Thought tour. You truly made it spectacular, and one of the most memorable tours ever!

it’s 40 years ago this week that Black Coffee In Bed first sneaked into the UK charts and it’s still one of the band’s most requested encores.

It's 42 years ago this week that Squeeze classic and live favourite Goodbye Girl made a brief appearance in the charts. Who remembers the 3D sleeve?

Looking forward to the 50th anniversary tour, we thought we'd look back at the Squeeze All Time Top 10 Songs - in at number 10 is 'Hourglass' from Babylon and On. Take it to the bridge!

September 1982 saw the release of Sweets from a Stranger, lead single "Black Coffee In Bed" a firm fan favourite to this day. "Annie Get Your Gun" was released as a standalone single shortly after the album, and remains a staple of the band's live set.
Cool for Cats (the album) was promoted with 4 singles: "Goodbye Girl", "Slap and Tickle", "Up the Junction", and the eponymous "Cool for Cats". The latter two songs remain the band's highest-charting singles, tied at the No. 2 spot in the UK album charts.
#TBT
This week in 1982 Annie Get Your Gun entered the UK charts. Here's a copy of the single from Spain. "Strum that thing and shout."
#ThrowbackThursday
'Annie Get Your Gun' was not included on any studio album, but has made numerous appearances on compilation albums over the years, including the now out-of-print live album 'A Round and A Bout', where our live video is from: - Where did you first hear it?
We jump back to 1995 and 'Electric Trains' which features the "willow cricket bat guitar" of the lyrics. But... if Chris Difford wrote the lyrics shouldn't HE be playing it? Check out the full video and ponder this conundrum for the ages at
We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the people who are coming to our shows. The kindness shown by so many giving so much is truly both awe inspiring and humbling. A massive thank you and big slobbery kisses from us all. We f***ing love you!
Released on this day in 1993, “Some Fantastic Place” spawned a massive 5 singles, and saw the departure of long-term drummer Gilson Lavis (and brief return of
@PCarrack
). Do you agree with the choice of singles?
Rip roaring Tilbrook solos and chords that turn the tide of the Thames. Difford’s powerful prose sung by the home town southeast London crowd. It’s our last show tonight the other side of town on at 7.40!
