I very much agree with this! There are serious concerns about trying to "plug gaps" with crowd-funding, PPPs or private philanthropy, not least in perpetuating power asymmetries, verticality, COI risks that plagued global health before this latest crisis.

Thanks so much to @marco_zenone for leading us on this new paper which shows how google enables alternative therapy providers to target people as they google information about cancer, including late stage cancer or symptoms of treatment #CDoH @CDRG_LSHTM
When anyone searches for information on cancer treatment options - you shouldn't see ads for scientifically unsupported treatment, or ads targeting people who have exhausted their treatment options. Our new study (unfortunately) finds this is occurring
