One thing I learned while serving an LDS mission is that your mind will adjust to new circumstances extremely quickly. I lived in one home where we took bucket showers with cold water. Within weeks, I looked forward to my evening shower as much as I had done my hot shower previously. I’ve relearned the same lesson while fasting. If you remove sugar for an extended period, you will begin to enjoy food with significantly less sugar.

Traveling with my kids this week. Our seats on our flight required that one kid had to sit by themselves on the row across from mine. My daughter (7 yrs old) started crying when I told her that it was her turn to sit alone. It created a little scene and the flight attendant gave me a hard time (not jokingly) about having my daughter sit alone because she was scared. I’m much more concerned about raising kids who can’t sit by themselves on a plane than I am about them being scared.

@reno4242 It’s been a great learning experience either way. I’m very optimistic that this first project will go well and lead to many more successes. It’s always nerve racking when infrastructure spending begins.

Nothing makes you want Bitcoin more than trying to buy Bitcoin
Onboarding an old friend to Bitcoin and the bank just froze his account. 🫠He now needs to go into a branch with photo ID to get it unlocked. He's furious. And wants to up his initial allocation as a result. I'll take that as a win.

I went to Disneyland this last week with my kids. In downtown Disney you can watch them make Carmel Apples through a window. After a week of extreme over consumption I took the time to try to help my kids see that the people making the apples are a lot happier than the ones eating them. If you eat one a day you’re happy. If you eat two you wont enjoy the second nearly as much. If you eat 3 you'll wish you ate none. The real key is to be happier making the apples. You can make thousands a day and be happy with every single one.

@moseskagan I see people who have done this in CR surf towns. It’s a great route for a simple life with good pay

The more quickly you realize we’re all broken people just trying to figure it out, the better.
If you think you’re a good person, get married. If you still think you’re a good person, have kids. You’ll realize you are a broken and selfish creature in dire need of redemption, and this is good.

One idea that would be cool to do for your posterity. Allocate 1 Bitcoin for each great-grandkid. Create a list of reading material required to access the Bitcoin, including directions from yourself explaining its purpose. What is the purpose? It’s an interest free loan that can be accessed on your 25th birthday. The goal is for each child to pass one Bitcoin on to each of their children, with the same criteria.

@ErikKaiser @seandsweeney I've never thought of traveling to visit where my family came from. That's a great idea!

This is a really important point that makes Alex's statement problematic. Every decision matters! You may not know who your great grandparents are and how they impacted your life but that’s your fault, not theirs. Alex's statement insinuates you should ignore the responsibility that you have to your future generations. The decisions you make directly impact their lives. I never met my great great grandfather (Benjamin Barber) but my life has been changed for the better because of him. I'm a happier person because I’ve done the work to know that.

Anyone interested in learning more about our CR project should definitely give Kincaid a follow.
In 2023 I made the decision to pack up and move my family to Costa Rica! It's required sacrifice with the goal of creating a better future for my family and others. After 1 1/2 l'm very confident in the direction we're headed. Here's my story and why I chose to make the move 👇
