Stripped is a poem written at low tide. Low tide is both a physical reality, when water recedes to expose the shoreline, and an emotional reality, when the party’s over, everyone has gone home, and you’re left bare. Both come in waves and serve as a time to see what’s been lying beneath, what opalescent treasures you might pocket to keep, and what you let go and let drift toward the horizon. You have to go slow or else you’ll stumble. Worse, going fast means you might miss something great. The sun is always there, as Rick Rubin says, even when you can’t see it. Sometimes it takes a little saltwater and a bit of undressing to see the sun again in yourself. Stripped is nothing fancy, just my handwriting, my voice, and the beach. I wrote it for myself and it brings joy to share with you (linked below). Thank you for taking a moment to watch and listen 🐚🩶☀️
