Observations re Raisi chopper crash.
I've been to the area a few times, and it is remote, sparsely populated and takes a bit to get there by vehicle (only in good weather). It's where twin earthquakes hit in 2011. Temperatures can be incredibly cold overnight, even in summer.

I will add, the prevailing sentiment is fear of crisis, of the unknown. For all it's faults, Iran is not a country wracked by instability or security issues. Order is a constant, even with protests every few years. Iranians are used to this order and stability, despite its form.

That's not how it works. Sanctions on banking transfers prevent companies/states paying for imports, including for medical supplies. Sanctions further inflate risk for traders, so when suppliers do agree, costs are astronomical. This is a well documented fact.
