Is there anyone actually moaning about the signing of Peart-Harris?
Cause I’ve seen more tweets saying ‘don’t moan about the signing’ than those of fans actually moaning.
#Pompey
From when John Mousinho took charge on the 20th of January last year, only 9 players remain.
Joe Rafferty
Zak Swanson
Sean Raggett
Ryley Towler
Connor Ogilvie
Marlon Pack
Tom Lowery
Joe Morrell
Colby Bishop
#Pompey
Initially thought it was bizarre to take Lang off for Saydee, that’s why I’m not the manager & good thing I’m not.
Credit to everyone involved, I’ll remember that atmosphere during added time for a while.
Post-match analysis out next week.
10 to go.
#Pompey
Regan Poole didn’t need crutches or a boot when he suffered a season ending injury.
Colby Bishop needed both as a precaution & ended up missing a few weeks.
You just never know, hopefully it’s just a precaution with McIntyre & nothing serious. 🤞
#Pompey
These are the reasons why Cardiff would’ve beaten us to sign Robertson.
1. Able to spend £3m on a single player
2. Able to offer more in wages
3. Able to offer better facilities
Whether you like it or not we’ve spent the last 12 years away from the 2nd tier, it’s going to take

I wouldn’t change anything for Bolton, the midfield of Pack, Robertson & Saydee complement each other so well, three different profiles who make a brilliant midfield, for me Mousinho has got to stick with that & Morrell will have to make do for a place on the bench.
#Pompey
Positives from today:
- 3 points
- Very good debut from Peart-Harris
- Ogilvie back
- Lowery 90 minutes
- Created chances
- Wingers heavily involved
- Imminent transfer business
#Pompey
Full-time thoughts:
- Mousinho got it spot on throughout
- Breathtaking first 15 minutes
- Stayed on front foot after red card
- What a start for Lang
- Lane looked more lively cutting in
- Fratton Park crowd something else when it’s on
- Got to appeal that decision
#Pompey
As it stands:
Macey ❌
Rafferty ✅ (2 years)
Swanson ✅ (activate option)
Raggett ❌
Ogilvie ❌
Evans ❌
Morrell ✅ (activate option)
Pack ✅ (1 year/option of further tear)
Martin ❌
This is just my opinion.
#Pompey
There’s a reason why I refrained from tweeting when I had doubts about the starting lineup, let it play out.
Sir John Mousinho has done it again.
Nine clear, seven to go.
It’s actually happening isn’t it?

Player report bonus | Matt Ritchie
Since my last thread did brilliant numbers, I wanted to elaborate further on our newest addition to the squad.
This thread will focus on Ritchie's crossing.
As ever I'm grateful for all likes and shares! 💙
#Pompey
IF Alex Robertson does become available on a permanent deal, we HAVE to be all over it.
Man City sold Tommy Doyle for £4.3m, he was a year older, had experience of Championship football including a promotion & the Bundesliga.
Robbo enters the final year, he could be available…
Assuming the rest of the window looks like this based on link and other factors.
Jamal Baptiste (RCB)
Jacob Farrell (LB)
Alex Robertson (Advanced 8)
Josh Nisbet (Deep-lying 8)
Karamoko Dembele (RW/AM)
*Tino Anjorin (AM) *bonus
Would you be happy with this?
Tom McIntyre | 🧵 THREAD 🧵
I wanted to do my own review on one of our January signings, so decided to make a thread on our imminent arrival.

One thing that's been noticeable is Marlon Pack's role as more of an advanced 8 with Lowery playing as the deep-lying midfielder.
It did confuse me a bit at first but now I can absolutely see why this is the case.

Still, that’s the world we live in I guess, nothing you can do but get on with it.
As one man said, just keep going!
Abdoulaye Kamara and Nicolas Schmid are the couple of signings Mousinho said would come in this week, both on permanent deals. Someone like Harvey Blair could also sign permanently.
Then we can start to look at loans. Murphy (LCB), Anjorin (CM/CAM) and Jebbison (CF) could all be

Ah the days when fans thought Tunnicliffe should’ve been offered a contract because of a tackle.
It’s mad to think how far we’ve come under Mousinho over the last 18 months.

Portsmouth FC 2024/25 tactical preview 🧵
Part one | Build-phase
In this series of threads, I take a look at how John Mousinho’s side could set up ahead of the club’s first Championship campaign since 2011/12.
The first part of this series will focus on the building phase of
I think a squad of 26 is enough including 23 outfield players.
Likely further incomings include….
Harvey Blair 🔜
Tino Anjorin (loan) ⏳
Freddie Potts (loan) ⏳
CB (loan) ⏳
Then the focus turns to outgoings.
Ryley Towler (loan)
Terry Devlin (loan)
Ben Stevenson
Tom Lowery
We’ve chosen the worst possible game to put in the worst possible performance.
This was our chance to put our mark on the Championship after a tough first 7 fixtures, you’d think Stoke are among the top 6 with how good we’ve made them look.
Utter pish!
#Pompey
This would probably be my lineup vs Leeds.
Starting XI:
Norris
Williams Shaughnessy Towler Ogilvie
Moxon Pack
Lane Saydee Silvera
Yengi
Subs:
Archer, Swanson, Devlin, Lowery, Dozzell, Ritchie, Whyte, Lang, Sørensen
McIntyre + Farrell injured, Murphy “touch and go”.
I find it hard to see where Gavin Whyte fits in.
I’d imagine he’ll be 4th choice on the RW behind Lane, Lang & Ritchie as well as being 4th choice on the LW behind Murphy, Silvera, & Ritchie.
Think it might be best if he moves on for the sake of his career.

Team for Saturday pretty much picks itself.
Norris
Williams Shaughnessy Towler Ogilvie
Dozzell Pack
Lane Lang Silvera
Sørensen
Basically unchanged from Leeds.
I would have Tino Anjorin back if reports/rumours are true.
🔷 Physical monster (strength and upper-body frame)
🔷 Outstanding vision and technique
🔷 Quick decision making
🔷 Defensive discipline (positioning, concentration, work rate)
🔷 Versatile (can play as an advanced
Ideal scenario for the rest of the transfer window.
Outgoings:
Ryley Towler (loan)
Ben Stevenson
Tom Lowery
Gavin Whyte
Anthony Scully
Incomings:
GK (strong competition for Norris)
CB (comfortable playing either side)
Deep-lying 6
8/10 (Tino Anjorin)
Pacey RW
Still a lot of
Where exactly does Terry Devlin fit in?
Rarely plays as a CM, 3rd choice RB, 4th choice AM.
Can’t help but feel that a loan move is still the most beneficial thing for his development.
It’s a shame with Gavin Whyte because he has attributes, but he needs moving on this summer and that’s as simple as that.
If I could see something that he brings to the team I’d say what that is, I can’t see what he brings.
🧵 How
#Pompey
can beat Blackpool:
- A focus on defensive setup & attacking structure
- Offside trap
- Crunching the centre of the pitch
- Combating wide overloads
- Positional interchanges
All that & more in this pre-game thread.
You can’t blame it on injuries alone, we look a complete shadow of ourselves.
No urgency, no creativity, no confidence, no patterns of play.
We’ve been sussed out, tactical tweaks & signings needed badly.
#Pompey
McIntyre can’t be trusted as our 3rd CB choice behind Poole & Shaughnessy, far too injury prone.
Whoever comes in MUST be up to Championship standard NOW, we can’t take a risk on a youngster who MIGHT come good.
💬Mous on Lang: “I wouldn’t class him as an out-and-out winger, he’s more of an attacking midfielder or a forward. He has a track record of goalscoring at this level - which is something not shy about admitting we’ve been lacking.”

Portsmouth News
I really don’t understand why people don’t just mute or block me if they really don’t like my page, it’s just the most common solution isn’t it?
Instead I see a lot of cheap digs knocking about on a near frequent basis and now I’m starting to get fed up of it.
If you can’t make
Promotion scenarios on Saturday:
Win: Promoted as champions
Draw: Promoted if Derby fail to win
Lose: Promoted if Derby & Peterborough lose
Only way we can win the league on Saturday is by winning, but can still win promotion without a win pending on other results.
#Pompey
So as it stands this would be my lineup for Leeds.
Starting XI:
Norris
Williams Shaughnessy Towler Ogilvie
Lowery Pack
Lane Saydee Murphy
Yengi
Bench:
Archer, Swanson, Stevenson, Moxon, Devlin, Whyte, Lang, Silvera, Sørensen
I’m now thinking we need six signings before

Pompey have gone into the foreign market for the 3rd time this summer to bring in Nicolas Schmid, here's the basic lowdown on our 10th overall summer addition.

#Pompey
This would be my squad for the first game as it stands.
Starting XI:
Norris
Williams Shaughnessy McIntyre Ogilvie
Moxon Pack
Lane Lang Murphy
Bishop
Subs:
Archer, Towler, Sparkes, Lowery, Devlin, Saydee, Whyte, Silvera, Yengi
Is there much point in me doing a thread on Ritchie?
I guess we all pretty much now what he brings.
Strengths are leadership, experience, crossing and set-pieces, main concern is lack of minutes over recent years and lack of explosive pace depending on where he plays.
Comment
Imagine a world where Kamara, Robertson and Anjorin all return along with Swanson signing an extension.
All that would be left to add is a CB and an extra midfielder.
Portsmouth's league record in 2023/24 when conceding first:
Games: 15
Won: 7
Drew: 4
Lost: 4
Points won: 25
Scored: 26
Conceded: *11
Bouncebackability
*Not including 1st goal conceded in these games
#Pompey
I'm noticing a pattern with our attacking signings, they all seem to be comfortable with using both feet.
Josh Murphy, Sammy Silvera and now potentially Elias Sorensen, Paddy Lane can be included as well.
Really helps make our attack unpredictable in key moments, the movements
Half-time thoughts:
- Saydee MOTM
- Yengi runs in behind are a threat
- Raggett shutting the critics up
- Lane has been a real threat
- Robertson is such a class player
- Another assist for Sparkes
- Set-up has been spot on
#Pompey
Half-time thoughts:
Williams not a CB
Midfield trio doesn’t work, Stevenson best of a bad bunch
Silvera showing glimpses of a good player
Saydee not the type to run the channels but hold up play is still of a decent standard
Whyte needs moving on
Not too fussed about the
Overall I think we all take two points from two against Leeds (A) and a recently relegated Luton side, can’t help but feel that we should’ve done more to threaten their goal towards the end.
First clean sheet at Fratton since December 11th, something to build on.
#Pompey
Once again our brightest spark.
What I would say is he needs to mix his actions up a bit more and use his left-foot more often, it was pointed out as a weakness of his so hopefully it gets worked on.
Can be frustrating at times but there’s a good player in there, better
I do believe that Gavin Whyte has his part to play for
#Pompey
in the Championship.
I'm thinking matches where we'll have less of the possession, his defensive work, speed and ball-carrying will be important in those type of matches.
We certainly haven't seen the best of him,
To say that Sparkes never had any defensive cracks is just misleading.
Barnsley (A)
Charlton (H)
Blackpool (H)
Burton (A)
Leyton Orient (H)
No need to kid ourselves, we’ll be fine.
Brilliant night for
#Pompey
all round.
I’m aiming to release the post-match thread for Wednesday afternoon but just a few things to mention.
- High turnovers
- Yengi masterclass
- Norris a class above with distribution
- Raggett CAN play out from the back
How Pompey have won without Poole & Bishop: Tactical analysis
- Solving build-up issues
- Directness
