Fast pacing is okay if it suits your story. If you're capable of building up interesting ideas in a measly 17 chapters, thats great! Cause context matters, and I don't think what's happening in KB would rlly require a slow start. It's a very simple set up arc fundamentally imo.

Jujutsu Kaisen fans will claim to be intellectuals but gas a meatheaded Gojo Vs Sukuna fight that has 0 emotional depth whatsoever. Of course they can't explain why they like it to people who don't; they'd have to describe a fight that Undead Unluck did better in its first arc.

It’s made worse when you remember this series’ main goal is to critique a society that’s quirk centric. And yet the MC never grapples with the biggest example of that standing right beside him, fighting with a heart made out of denim. Doesn’t surprise me given Aoyama but still.

no one wanted yuji to go on an aquarium date or smth post sukuna massacre. we wanted yuji to reflect longer on his trauma, for maki to reflect on mai and her clan dying, for us to see megumi visit tsumiki, etc. little moments like those would've made shibuya greater than it was.
I mean we went from shibuya to a death game so having a slice of life arc or moments after shibuya wouldn’t make sense to me.

this is such a nasty cop out. it is not about characters crying or not, it is about having human and realistic reactions to traumatic circumstances. jjk has massacres not being mentioned, deaths being shrugged off like they fon't matter, and overall speed runs development.
Jjk's emotional depth has nothing to do with characters crying and throwing up when someone whom they knew dies but it has everything to do with the fact that death of someone close to you is so normal that shedding tears is a waste. If you get it , fine if you don't, then lol.

Deku is someone who is the MC in a story that's all about discrimination and the trauma that has come from it. Like it or not, the bullying he faced WAS part of that discrimination. However, the story never addresses this commection. It's inconsistent writing, plain and simple.
Izuku has addressed this many times and has said that despite everything, Kacchan is still amazing. Bakugo Katsuki is your typical tsundere love interest and the sooner you accept that, the better. NO ONE can love Izuku and care for him the way he now does. CANONICALLY.

I get the sentiment but I can never agree. Shibuya was so focused on furthering its characters especially the main one, and unfortunately I don’t think arcs like Perfect Prep or Culling Games really took advantage of that. Their lack of care for the characters is far too obvious.
