As platinum partner of @SUFCRootsHall, we welcome the news that an agreement has been reached for the sale of the club to the consortium which is being led by Jason Rees, and that today's winding-up petition has been dismissed. This is the third year we have sponsored the club, adding the front of shirt package this season to our existing sponsorship of the North Bank. However, our three years pale into insignificance compared to the decades that many Southend United supporters have followed their football club. We can only imagine how stressful this recent period in the club’s history has been for these loyal supporters. The prospect of the club ceasing to exist and the damage this would have done to the city is too severe to contemplate, so this light at the end of the tunnel is a huge relief. To the supporters, along with everyone who works for the club, we would like to offer our sincere and heartfelt congratulations on this news. Whilst we are sure there is much to be done between now and the consortium formally taking control of the club, we hope that this news, along with last night’s excellent result, allowed you to get out of bed this morning feeling much more positive about the future of your club. Enjoy this feeling – you deserve it. To Justin Rees and the consortium that he is leading, thank you for stepping in and saving this great club. Once all is done, you will be taking over the stewardship of a football club with a rich history and an incredible fan base, and one that belongs firmly in the Football League.
