Weather won't be boring this week, that's for sure. Near-term outlook includes multiple winter storms, rounds of heavy rainfall in the South, extreme cold in the Pacific Northwest and Northern Plains, with fire weather conditions at critical levels at times in the Southwest.

Busy week ahead with lots of high-impact winter weather across the CONUS. Back to back winter storms to get the week started with significant snow accumulation possible across the Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday, and across the Plains-Midwest-Great Lakes on Wednesday.

Dangerous fire weather conditions are in place today across portions of the Southern High Plains. Critical Fire Risk + Red Flag Warnings across portions of New Mexico and Texas. Any fires that start could spread rapidly and become out of control - be fire aware today.

Gusty winds and mild/dry conditions will continue to promote elevated to locally critical fire weather risks across portions of AZ, NM, TX, and OK through Friday evening. No open flames, be aware of activities that could cause sparks/chains dragging behind vehicles, etc.

Winter is definitely not done yet across North America. Medium range guidance is again picking up on a pattern that could deliver Arctic air and multiple chances for high-impact storm systems in mid-late February. Big cold for some, snow for others, severe weather in the south.
