A lot of ppl pointing out that certain “decolonial scholars” are now silent on Palestine. Go to third world feminisms and the black radical tradition for your decolonial scholarship and you will not encounter silence on Palestine

black children are forced to grow up too fast. I hate that I’m 21 with the maturity of a 40 yr old. there are white people much older than me who still function as children economically. black girlhood is so short. ugh.

honestly, i am worried that there would be backlash from my future students if i put alice walker, chimamanda ngozi adichie or bell hooks on future syllabi, but my training is so tethered to reading their work. are ppl puting 'problematic faves' on syllabi w. disclaimers?

Not Yale pretending they don't know how to help international students stay here safely as if this university isn't already an expert in the art of loopholes when it comes to extracting resources from Indigenous land & New Haven's Black communities

nothing. there is no moral obligation to stare at art the entire time you're in a museum. museums are often expensive to get into, maybe they're there all day and taking a break between looking. anyway, stop shaming young folk. - xoxo an art historian & museum professional

it is momentous for a black feminist scholar to live until nearly 70. we have lost far too many far too young. still, I always imagined bell hooks would be 90 yrs old and still writing books, love letters, and provocations for us

I’m just now learning that Yale students have to apply to take part in extracurricular clubs and that it is very competitive. That is absolutely f*ck*ng ridiculous and needs to be banned ASAP. What an abusive mess.

Y’all don’t understand, Brandeis Black studies is built different. There’s no academic Black feminist theory without Brandeis (hear me out: Angela Davis, Pauli Murray, Hortense Spillers, M Jacqui Alexander, Aliyyah Abdur-Rahman, Faith Smith, Anita Hill, Jasmine Johnson...)

I asked my students to name well-known "Black Intellectuals" and the first responses were all "Dr. Umar", which says less about them or Dr. Johnson, but rather, the relationship that #BlackStudies is has with young Black people, especially those not tethered to The Academy.

most of us (leftists) are complicit in some ways while cultivating resistance in other ways. it's actually not useful to call each other out when in reality we are all are picking & choosing where we can/do resist. there's no clear blueprint on how to navigate this moment.
