@WildfireWhisper type 1 diabetic here. (yes, i’m the one in maia’s tweet.) t1d moms are amazing. i have so much respect for the knowledge you hold. but you don’t know as much about HRT. and hey, i’m not an expert either - but my medical care team is. i listen to them, as is my right.

@SiriuslyDawson @JoannaNoBanana so how is a person with T1D on SNAP meant to get consistent access to sugar for hypoglycemia? (for context it’s not uncommon to have multiple hypo episodes in a day… so we go through a *lot* of sugary snacks/drinks.)

@SiriuslyDawson @JoannaNoBanana fair question! the more “processed”/“unhealthy” a sugar is, the faster it’ll bring my blood sugar up from a dangerous low. when i was diagnosed at age 7 my doctor told me to always keep snickers bars on hand, lol.

@SiriuslyDawson @JoannaNoBanana OP specifically referred to T1 diabetes, which is an autoimmune condition with no cure and no prevention. when our blood sugar goes low, we need fast (processed) sugar to keep from entering a coma.
