Hey
@taylorswift13
it would be super awesome if you could make some sort of statement discouraging your stans from harassing fat people. I know you can’t control their behavior, but it would mean a lot.
Fuck that “but my organs are 2ft in at least so what’s stabbing me gonna do” line in The Whale trailer. Fully FUCK that. Fat bodies are not fatsuits. Fat bodies are not padding with 0 nerve endings around a smaller body. Fat bodies deserve gentleness.
If you have an option to make a small adjustment to your art at the request of a marginalized group, you should do it. I know this isn’t the biggest win ever, but I’m feeling a lot of joy about it rn! We are so rarely listened to or taken seriously. It’s hugely appreciated.
K so question. When ppl are “standing up for someone with an ED” why is that person always thin and why is the person you’re “standing up to” always fat? Just wondering…
I wish ppl knew that most things they reflexively refer to as “body dysmorphia” is actually fatphobia. Like living in a fatphobic hurts EVERYONE. C’mon let’s fight this together.
Clarification: directing fatphobia toward yourself isn’t the same thing as internalized fatphobia. If you’re not fat, you can direct fatphobia inward, but it’s not “internalized fatphobia.” Just bc it’s happening internaLLY doesn’t mean it’s internaLIZED. Hope this helps!
I would like to skip to being desensitized to fatphobia because it is far too fucking painful right now. I literally see it everywhere I look, in most people, in most pieces of art, in most everything. I feel like im getting stabbed repeatedly.
@themaggieshow_
It is so fucking weird to me that “INTERSECTIONALLY QUEER” events and spaces are like yay intersectionality except for disabled people we hate them
thinking about the fact that most fat ppl I’ve interacted with who think fat activists “go too far,” are smaller fat white ppl. white small fat to white small fat: if you’re just going off your own personal experience, you’re not going to understand the breadth of this issue.
@kurtisconner
Kurtis that movie is one of the most abhorrently anti-fat pieces of media that has come out in a long time. I am begging you to listen to fat ppl on this one. As someone who was a huge fan of you, I’m beyond disappointed.
Fatphobic swifties can be as mad as they want about the change. It’s done. We were heard and validated. Get on the right side of history or regret it later.
@hutchleah
My mother got that surgery and was in an induced coma for a couple weeks from complications. She still has scares all the time 😣 it is just barbaric imo
Henlo everyone!!! I’m performing for the first time in like. a year and a half at the drag show tomorrow ☠️ !!! It’s my lil town’s first pride celebration, so get LITTTTT!!! 😌 Remember to bring tips and a mask!!!
I think this is partially bc restrictive EDs are seen as an appropriate reaction to being fat, so when thin people are dealing with them, it’s seen as ❤️tragic❤️ bc they weren’t necessarily the intended target.
it's interesting how fat activists get told we "make being fat our entire identity" as if our entire society isn't built on reducing fat people down to our bodies and treating us as subhuman
@marquisele
The usual argument leveled at me is that it’s a nothing but the innocent pursuit of health 🥴 which of course is primarily motivated by fatphobic beliefs about weight and health and rly quickly devolves into ableism
I get that it’s hard turn something down, but accepting a role that isn’t for your body type is just continuing the pattern of casting anyone larger than a size 2 as “plus size representation”
And VERY UNFORTUNATELY, if a thin person and a fat person are up for the same role, they are likely to choose the thin person due to nothing other than anti-fat bias. It’s unfortunate but true at this current moment in time.
You’re actually the one doing the dehumanizing here 😂 there is nothing inherently dehumanizing about being a very fat person. But will other ppl dehumanize you? Certainly! As you have demonstrated
I just wish we could use the terms fatphobia & antifatness to describe everything that comes from those systems. It makes it so much easier to have conversations about systemic antifatness if we’re aware of the ways it effects us.
ATTENTION KANSANS: We MUST vote NO on Aug. 2nd to keep abortion legal in Kansas. Not only to protect the basic human rights of Kansans, but also to make abortion more accessible for those in states southeast of Kansas that are certain or likely to ban abortion.
Nobody listens to fat people and nobody cares about our feelings. I’m just so tired of being on the internet and seeing people constantly justifying fatphobia and behavior that allows fatphobia to thrive.
But no of course it has to be
Fat ppl: hey this is harmful to us fyi
General public: THIS JUST IN: WOKE FATTIES STRIKE AGAIN. IS NOTHING SACRED? YOU’VE RUINED EVERYTHING I HOLD DEAR
