Cameron (who I don't otherwise like) got close to this, identifying that disadvantaged families needed specific help. 1/18

@space_univrs @cb_doge No he’s not. If he wanted to do that, he’d use that huge “untapped” resource to do great things. In any case, that’s not his role - it is a power reserved to Congress.

@poolsidegains @DenverDrew44 @Twolfrecovery No medicine is 100% safe. It is a balancing of risks. RFK jr has publicly come out against some of the safest & efficacious vaccines in human history. Govt’s job is to balance harms, not pander to unrealistic expectations.

@DenverDrew44 @Twolfrecovery How do you square that with the wider MAGA move to dismantle the regulatory apparatus of Govt? How can RFK jr achieve “cleaning up our food” when there can apparently be no Federal regulation? This is the inherent dichotomy at the heart of this administration.

If Zelensky is willing to do this for the USA, why didn’t @Keir_Starmer ask for something similar? Why give £bns every year when we could just buy minerals & have a return on our investment?
The U.S. has presented Ukraine with a draft agreement on critical minerals, handed over by the Treasury Secretary. After a meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian side would make a decision when it reviews the document. "For my part, I will do everything to ensure that our team of government officials works over the next two days so that we have the opportunity to formalize the agreement in Munich," the President said.

@HvanderVen_ @MyDeathRay NATO set a guideline of 2% of GDP defence spending in 2014. It is NOT a treaty obligation. As of 2024, 23 of 30 members exceed that. As for living up to the treaty, the US is the only country to invoke it & we all answered the call - even though we were under no threat.
