Short game work @StephenAmesPGA In short (ish), he was getting the grip a little too strong at setup around the greens, which was getting the face too neutral. This was making it difficult for him to hit it high with spin, so he was forced to “fabricate” the launch conditions by tilting out of it and dragging the hands with a high handle. Not ideal. Weaker grip, lower handle, and maintaining loft was the key for him to add speed and allow his sternum to stay over the ball nicely for better strike & low point consistency. Same for high shots around the green.

Nothing about this delivery is over the top my man. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The shaft pitches back behind the body in transition and continues to shallow and stay inside the hands. It’s simply coming from a steeper position at the top. Keep it there and get him fast 🚀
@shkeengolf 7 year old, sawn off flighted 50°. Any issues with the inside takeaway and OTT delivery?

Way less across the line or narrow, and much shallower in transition compared to when I saw you last at my studio. You’ve been putting in some great work Jayson 👊

Poor camera angle here but you can make a strong case that low point is too far in front of the ball, which is why you’re struggling with thin shots and naturally that makes it hard to square the face, so the miss directionally will be a block.

Backswing looks good here compared to prior swings I’ve seen from you. Some pretty solid structure at the top overall. Still quite steep coming down here which is why you see the pivot reaction as usual
@shkeengolf I’m continuing to work on avoiding hands getting sucked in behind me and letting arms drop down to help shallow (I get the club steep at times in transition)…checking if you see improvement from my past examples

Great move. I would get the hands just marginally deeper in the backswing to create some space for the lead arm and chest. Right now, your chest has to slow down at the bottom to get the hands down. Would allow for a more passive release pattern
@shkeengolf +2 handicap. Looking for anything minor I can work on to add more consistency to overall game

Getting across the line to shallow the club is not always the answer. It can sometimes lead to narrow, steep tendencies, as you’ll see here. New pattern has better trail arm structure, and most importantly a new sequence to his pivot where he doesn’t spin out his chest early. Lead arm stays “in” more and club shallows 👌

@JakeThurmGolf It’s easy to predict all of the brutal outcomes and bad tendencies that will come from an exercise like this
