The disbelief still has not left. Happy to have received PhD offers from Oxford, Cambridge, Johns Hopkins, SOAS, QMUL and Bristol. After much consideration, I have decided to join DPhil in International Relations at Oxford as a Radcliffe scholar.
Life Update📍: jubilant to note that I have been awarded a scholarship by London School of Economics
@LSEnews
to pursue MSc in International Relations (Research). Not an individual triumph by any means, but a collective effort by so many loved ones to push me across the line.
In what has been an absolute shitshow of a year politically and personally (as if they are separable), some respite.
I have completed my Master's in International Relations from LSE with Distinction. It was beyond my wildest imagination to achieve it when I began my degree.
You could not miss Mukul's classes regardless of which department you were from. Being in Ramjas means being mesmerised by his teaching and tales. I'll feel fulfilled if I can even share an ounce of the same zeal with which he approaches teaching and his discipline.
Excellent advice for prospective applicants!
I am happy to review any documents required for an MA/PhD application in the US and UK until Aug 20. Please read this thread carefully and reach out for any specific feedback via DM.
1) When she approached me for guidance last summer, she'd already picked & researched her course & knew it inside out, including what scholarships it's eligible for.
This is something you guys have to do on your own. I cannot help with this. Please dig into all relevant webpages
There are times when Spurs break you down and then there are times when Spurs pull you out from the trenches of despair. Fucking love them so much. Thank you Spurs for today.
Also, felt really nice to see
@SpursLGBT
banners in the stadium! Night couldn't have been better 🌈
Couldn't say no to free food esp when it's Ramjas that's offering.
Wonderful plaque from a department that has been a towering figure in the construction of Indian Political Thought.
Want to take a moment to thank
@mjbayly
,
@KiraHuju
and
@DrKMillar
as well. When I started my MSc I had a radically different idea of what it means to study IR. Thank you for always making me challenge the disciplinary boundaries and pushing me to think anew.
The realist school is known to draw heavily from Hobbes and Machiavelli. In this essay for E-IR, I examine the criterion for interpreting Hobbesian political thought, specifically his work Leviathan, as a precursor to classical realism and neorealism.
"Visiting journalists...were asked to sign an undertaking that they would not write anything else about India other than the cricket."
Searing review of BCCI's WC.
Even the best public unis in India can't provide access to titles that Zlib has. Have to jump so many hoops for VPN already, that is while one still can. India at 75 remains blind to social realities.

"[In the Hindoo religion] morality and human dignity are unknown; evil passions have their full swing; the Spirit wanders into the Dream-World, and the highest state is Annihilation."
Astonishing from Hegel.
Immeasurably grateful to closed ones. It's not a peronal victory by any means. This simply wouldn't have been possible without their unflinching support. From thinking all is over to being helplessly ill in LDN, this is a testament to their generosity more than my capabilities.
Not sure how this came through. It still has not settled in and I'm not sure when it will. All I hope is that I can do justice to my work and to all the people who have entrusted me with their efforts over the years.
First person in the family to receive an english education. First person to speak english. First person to do a masters, let alone from abroad and, that too, LSE. A dream come true. Have come a long way but as H. Bachchan said, "Arey abhi toh milo mujhko, milo mujhko chalna hai."
In times of need, thank you for reminding me of all that's good in the world. Not a day goes by when I do not feel grateful for having you in my life. To call london home is to be by your side.
all my heart, always <3
"What is your general impression of the overall situation in the country?
[Laughs] I am not yet ready to go back to jail."
Even Nehru was afforded books in British jails while political prisoners today on trial cannot access them.
None of this would have been possible, had
@areesh80
sir not pushed me to apply to these institutions. Thank you sir for believing in me when I did not. Your lessons have been critical in honing my understanding of the discipline. I hope my work can do justice to your teachings.
There are some texts that are just so exciting to read that they jolt you out of a bad mood.
@GeorgeLawsonIR
's paper is one such text. Wish I could have physically interacted with Prof. Lawson at LSE!
Happy to publish my first piece for
@Freedom_Gazette
on India's tipid response to the coup in Myanmar. I make a strategic case for India to support the movement against the junta.

hi, ive personally called and verified this. Definitely give this a shot!
Another reminder of the stench of inequality. Have seen people become RAs under their relatives or family acquaintances. Every app I filled was succeeded by a deep acknowledgment of the unequal waters I stand in. Truly heartbreaking.
That Ashoka/Stephens-Oxford pipeline is so triggering, u get "right" exposure from start, from writing SOPs to making a pitch perfect CV, networks, and same elites sitting in all committees to push the application. A professor I greatly respected once told me that academia is a
There's a certain tenderness in writing about subjects that are close to you. What does your critique look like for people/values you hold dear? Such a wonderful reminder by
@JeanneMorefiel1
that political theory is inseparable from the personal.
Seeing grown ass graduates from Oxford and Kings blame 'wokeism' for limited free speech in campuses rather than rising right-wing trend across democracies is unnerving.
i miss learning for the sake of it. things that might catch your eye randomly and implore you to dive into their histories. from the mentions of lavender in different mythologies to the eclecticism of shin-hanga art movement, today's rainy morning has been eventful.
Have noticed a dangerous trend, atleast in my circles, that people only read what they agree with?? how are you supposed to hone critical thinking if you only ever read what you already agree with.
Evicting students from their own campus for protesting against a genocide. Hang your heads in shame

administration. @ folks in london, please show your support to these brave students!!!!
🚨 THE LSE ENCAMPMENT IS BEING EVICTED. RALLY OUTSIDE THE MARSHALL BLOOM BUILDING AT 2PM TOMORROW (15TH JUNE) 🚨
We call on our allies in and outside LSE to demonstrate against the SMC's use of law to force student protestors out of the encampment

Really exciting things happening at Ramjas, all being done by its students despite the administration hassle :)
The RPR editorial board is launching the first issue of our journal tomorrow!
We are honoured to have

Venue: ECA Hall, Ramjas College.
Rethinking resistance through queer histories in old delhi.
@IqbalAliDehalvi
's historical nous and passion for the community is remarkable to say the least.
Nothing to say but that the author really poured their heart and soul into etching each word in this essay.
Dilli's jinns and their embrace of queerness.
According to Oxfam, lower incomes for the world's poorest contributed to the death of 21,000 people each day, but the world's 10 richest men have more than doubled their collective fortunes since March 2020.
21000 deaths. each. day.
