I love the Civil Service. I never felt more proud telling people what I did for a living in the 10 years I was part of it. But dross like this harms the reputation of so many who work tirelessly to deliver the government of the day's agenda, whatever their own political views.

Being a single parent can be tough, especially given current circumstances. But last night before bed, my four-year-old girl squeezed me in for a cuddle and, completely out of the blue, said:
"Daddy, you're my superhero. You're my Thor."
