Sarkeesian discourse is wild in that she is famous for being harassed solely for saying she intended to talk about sexism in video games and there's a very 'serious' group of ostensibly leftish people are unable to accept that maybe her harassers just did not have a point.

Daily reminder that IQ is a deeply racist and classist measure and, even beyond that, the studies in question are profoundly dubious in their own ways (show me a sampling frame of transfems that’s not biased along race or class.)

What's fascinating is that the quote there very obviously has nothing to do with the largely incorrect statement she's making. In fact, the article she cites completely contradicts her point Anyway, I think there's actually something worth explaining here, so let's unpack.

@r0zemary_ @everybdysgay @laylalikesmusic futanari is an ancient Japanese term for a mythical being like Ranma, who can fully change between male and female forms. In modern times it refers to a porn category for mythical hermaphrodite bodies. It's an entirely separate category from trans women and effeminate male porn.

Actual trans people can look however, but maybe don’t emphasize the experience of disability that stops you from taking care of you appearance and poverty that prevents HRT if you are talking about how hot those things are and also haven’t had that specific transfem fatigue.

An estimated 7 to 10% of women CAFAB have PCOS. If it made you transfem, TMA, etc., then trans women would immediately become a tiny fraction of the words we invented to describe our particular challenges, an easily ignored minority in our own identity.

Privilege is a tool to examine things one takes for granted that many are structurally denied, not a grand theory of all oppression. If something is both sought after and despised, when having it and not having it both create vulnerability to violence, it’s not a useful frame.

Like, the tweet was bad, but ostracism or painting people as fundamentally "evil" doesn't fucking help. And isolating tweets and showing them devoid of context (or just paraphrasing in hyperbolic ways) is a great way to ignore that people lashing out are often victims first

The fact that half of these wannabe cops are self-proclaimed "anarchists" is just the icing on the cake tbh.

The fact that the cis members of my cohort both landed tenure track positions shortly before graduating and it took me two years to find a post-doc. They both rock and deserve it! I do wonder if I've been punished for transitioning sometimes...

@dollshards This mom is inventing novel ways to handily win the extremely competitive “find the creepiest way to make your entire identity posting photos of your children online” contest.

@loveologian @cooki3faun She's literally responding to someone saying literally that. You can't be "SHE'S MISINTERPRETING SOMETHING" when she's literally directly replying to someone saying that thing. People can read!

@SisScarletRed @Chican3ry @BlytheGetsCross @joemolod The Daily Mail article doesn’t even agree with her. She just straight up didn’t read it before linking… “However, Tamar Reisman, an endocrinologist, told that the regimen that the Reddit user took is 'pretty common' and completely safe”

She's very obviously mocking the melodrama of the "I am quitting twitter" posts. Reframing a random trans woman as calling for your death is actually incredibly transmisogynistic. Like, getting called out sucks but maybe take a step back and look at how you've responded here?

“She’s a terrible person accused of grooming, that’s why it’s justified that 80% of my online persona is hating her cartoon analysis.” This is kiwifarms behavior; either engage substantively with the alleged behavior or stop milking an acceptable target for endless content.

@talia_bhatt Three transmasc competitors. Quinn is on the gold medalist soccer team and has spoken to defend trans women competing. Hiltz is a strong contender in the 1500 apparently and has been pro-Imane without being weird about it. And then we have Mr. "It's okay my coach misgenders me"

That said, the idea that the majority of the movement is "man hating lesbian feminists" is theater of the absurd. What has happened is that the Bindels of the world have been forced to choose between their moral commitments and their bigotry and have routinely abandoned ideology.

@aliiussy I honestly have no desire or energy to air comments making it around that haven’t made it public yet. But, for ones that have, is saying a trans woman of color “loves rape” the same thing as “not liking a book” Like, also she had 200 followers. It’s not a confessional lmao.

@katiedimartin "I wanted to make sure she saw how miserable I was when I crashed her graduation without warning to try and force a reconciliation in public, really, that's the best give I could give" Is it too much to ask that one's children going NC would prompt any introspection? At all?

There are, of course, a few more legitimate feminist activists in the anti-trans movement. Julie Bindel can make a legitimate claim to radfem credentials, noted pederast and admitted rapist Germaine Greer wrote influential feminist texts. Historically we have Daly, Raymond, etc

LIke, what she's done here is pretty vile and full of a lot of shittily sourced and worse argued personal attacks. That's bad! But, like, the thing that makes this *scary* is that she has a tool that's widely used to block people, frame interactions with strangers and isolate
