2 fields very light 5 bales an acre and the other 2 were 10 bales looks short but there was some butt to it Cormac, 30 acres yielded 252 bales I have another 20 acres to cut next week

I spent 2 hours putting out six 8 by 4 by 3 bales of barley straw I put in 3 today in 20 minutes and am not used to it yet it’s some job leaves the straw around 6” in length

Scanned 1.33 and there were mostly hoggets with 75 ewe lambs in it as well, they are pure NZ Romney’s

I worked it out last night with the scan rate and the current cost of meal that I am saving over €40k by not having to feed meal to anything, I just have to improve my grassland management to maximise the use of the fresh grass with rotational grazing (hopefully 🤞)

Plenty of size in them Cormac, what weight are they? I run the teasers with mine for a month before and the rams in for 3 weeks after that

No the control box comes with a cable to connect to the blower I have it just tied up when I use it and leave it back in the tool box after, it blows around 50 to 60 foot and does a great job shortening it to 6” or less

I can’t get over the way mine done, I put them on meal ad-lib for 2 weeks and nothing since and they are the same size as the rest of the lambs I weaned a few weeks ago

I honestly don’t know Tristian it’s my first time doing this, I usually have kale in but the weather was so wet last year I didn’t get it in. I put out 6 ton Wednesday morning and it’s nearly half gone now and there is 600 ewes in it

I put them on kale one winter and wouldn’t do it again they didn’t thrive as good as on grass

Just over 900 there Patrick 180 lambs and the rest are ewes and hoggets, there is the rest of the lambs to do in a three weeks time

I would say around 4kgs I will know next week when weighed, there is also 2 bags of belly wool as well so will have to weigh all to know the correct figure the ewes are all 2 year olds and crutched the end of may too when I put click on them Kevin

I put the straw on thick, done in last year for the first time and it worked out well there was 6 to 7 inches of bedding in it when I let the sheep out, I put cattle in on top of it this winter and they walked it in over the first week I had 2’ of water in the tank before that to

They are not in that good of a order Patrick between the weather and not having any kale this year has had it toll on them, but they have 2 mts to pick up 🤞

They are very easily to flesh, I caste-rated all the males this year, the ram lambs are very active

Thanks Padraig, but to be fair to this breed of sheep cosmetically they might not be as beautiful as your Suffolk mule, Borris ewe or the rest but they are bombproof I only handled 2% of them last year lambing as hoggets outside and without any meal

I wean them at 70 days to give the hoggets time to recover and when we shore them last week there was no difference in them and the dry ones

I only got it Thursday and am finding my feet with it Gwion, I have all left in the tool box in the cab and join it up when using it, I had all connected up in 2 minutes, I will get a suction cup for the cab and leave it there for the winter next year but it will do as is for now

It will do both Nigel and the great thing with this design is that it won’t let any lumps into the blower so no blockages at all

Ya both of them it seams to be natural for them to bark when they are at sheep so it was easy enough, I got the dog at it first and the bitch then
