Prem chose the word “สนุก”, pronounced “sanuk” and meaning “fun” in Thai. Prem was one of the first friends I made in the slum. He is 12 years old and just knows a few words of English, but more importantly he really wants to communicate and always finds a way. #streetart

Josue chose the word “Dios” (God). He told me that when he was younger he suffered an open-heart surgery but thanks to god he survived. It was god’s choice to keep him alive! He now lives in this house with 7 dogs who all look exactly the same.

Gerson chose the word “Paz” (peace). Las Palmas used to be extremely violent; shootings often took place with neighbouring slums in territorial conflicts. After drastic anti-gang action by the government, the slum and the whole country have become a lot safer. #SanSalvador
