Excited to announce the launch of Bikecoin 🚲💰. It's a triptocurrency. You mine Bikecoin every time you make a daily trip by bike. The funds you earn are automatically not-deducted from your bank account in the form of not buying gas.

This spike in gas prices will probably cost car-dependent folks more than any transit-funding or bike lane-building measure we’ve ever approved. But we won’t be left with anything to show for it. A bike network or expanded transit is an investment in community. Gas only burns.

Talked to my toddler about the coming restrictions & that her preschool might be closed. She was sad about not seeing her friends, but she told me she "doesn't want people to get sick." Calling adults who refuse to wear masks "whiny children" does a disservice to actual children.

For as much arguing and debating as we did over the Viaduct removal, pretty much the only thing nearly everyone agreed on was that if we removed the Viaduct, we should use that space for a waterfront park. And yet somehow this is what we got:

Why isn't our nation treating this as an emergency? If you can't see in front of a car, then that car should be illegal on public streets. Seeing in front of you is a primary design need, not an optional feature.

What I’m hearing in this story is that anyone could just put up eco blocks along existing street parking to create protected bike lanes, and the city won’t do anything about it. Or is it only ok to block public parking if your intent is to push around people without homes?
