Really well done here by @alexzietlow05
Two officials in Sunday's #SuperBowlLIX have strong connections to Charlotte. One has officiated the most games in NFL history. The other is the answer to "a low-end trivia question." Meet Boris Cheek (side judge) & Mike Morton (umpire), in @theobserver:

Everyone who’s been around UNC has memories of Dean, and I will just say this: he was kind to me when I was a student journalist for the DTH and knew very little about how the world worked. I called him at home to report stories a few times back then; he always took the call.

Here's some guys to cheer for in the Super Bowl for Charlotteans - an excellent piece from @langstonwertzjr.
Sunday’s Super Bowl will have a definite Charlotte flavor with three former high school stars playing in the Big Game: Will Shipley, Jordan Davis (Eagles), DJ Humphries (Chiefs) Plus other players/coaches with NC ties

Really cool here regarding this interaction between Doug and @gregolsen88
New on @AthlonSports: Everybody knows @gregolsen88 as the Pro Bowl tight and outstanding analyst. My family also knows Greg as someone who reached out to us in our hour of need with a gesture that was completely unexpected and life-altering.

Bizarre.
Here's how the voting went down for MVP: - Jackson got 30 of the 50 1st team All-Pro votes, Allen got 18 and Joe Burrow 2. - Allen won the 1st place votes for MVP 27-23 - Jackson got 12 1st-place votes to 1 for Allen for Offensive Player of the Year. - 9 voters picked Jackson 1st for OPOY and Allen 1st for MVP

Among the top 15 modern-era finalists, Kuechly did make it to the final 7, which means he was close. Holt got top-7 too. Those 2 will automatically advance to the top-15 modern era finalist stage for the Class of 2026.
No Luke Kuechly or Steve Smith in the Class of 2025 for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. No Torry Holt, either, as the state of North Carolina doesn't fare well this year. Inductees were: Jared Allen, Eric Allen, Sterling Sharpe and Antonio Gates.
