We've submitted a response to the National Marine Plan 2 consultation. While there are encouraging statements about the contribution of the marine sector to climate action, the current draft does not set out clear objectives or policies to deliver these. Much more substance is needed to meaningfully contribute to @scotgov's priority of addressing the climate crisis

Disappointing but not surprising new @auditscotland report finds @ScotGov has made minimal progress & is unlikely to meet its climate change target of reducing car use by 20% by 2030. We’re calling on MSPs to make cleaner, greener travel easier for everyone, ensuring our streets are safe for walking, wheeling & cycling, and enabling people to get about quickly & easily on an affordable & reliable public transport network. The Scottish Government aims to reduce car kilometres by 20% by 2030. This is part of its efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions. But car traffic has increased since 2020. And @scotgov has no delivery plan and is now unlikely to hit its target. More:

Recently published @ScotGov stats show 34% of households were in fuel poverty in 2023, up from 31% in 2022. These figures show we need to end our reliance on the volatile fossil fuel market & power our homes through cleaner forms of heating.
