Another interesting thing is what the town looks like when the financier Potter has full control. There are no valuable insitutions such as a cinema, a shop or Bailey's S&L. There are nightclubs and burlesque instead. This is a prophecy of the current financialized times.
I love a lot of things about It’s a Wonderful Life. But one small aspect that never would be included had it been made today, is that in the alternative timeline part of the story, Mary is a spinster working woman. And it’s presented as a very sad and lonely thing. It adds substantially to the dystopian wild nature of that scene, as it taps into a deep fear women have of being alone, as well as a man losing the woman he loves. Mary in that alternative world is also shown as being very timid and weak. It should be this way. And it beautifully contrasts with the real warmth and joy of their family and her as a wife and mother and her true feminine strength and beauty. It presents the opposite as cold and scary. It’s also interesting to note that even the way she dresses has changed in this alternative timeline. It’s masculine and ugly, compared to how feminine and beautiful she is portrayed throughout the rest of the film. We need more media that starkly contrasts the unnatural, sad, and otherwise depressing state of things when life is not lived as God designed with marriage, children, and loving loyalty, true masculine and feminine strength and character. Presenting the good as very good, and the bad as undesirable and awful. Are there other movies that do this really well? If so, I’d like to see them.

@dulcecormariae People don't like confrontation, so don't worry, if you say something politely it will definitely work.

@polyglot4peace This is actually a law in economics called the law of diminishing marginal utility. In this case we can call it the law of diminishing marginal progress perception.
