Clean up ku clean up paka kuwulira bulungi😁It’s been an eventful weekend at ours. Yesterday together with @HajjatMinsa and the @KCCAED we carried out a massive waste evacuation in Kamwokya Market, Central division with the local leadership and residents of Kamwokya. Among the many activities, we sensitized residents on waste segregation more so the 3R’s Recycle, Reduce and Reuse. Encouraged the community not to dump garbage in the drainages but rather put in sacks for the waste collection concessionaires to collect and also reminded them that they must properly dispose off waste. #ForABetterCity

We spent today morning in Kikubamutwe village, Kabalagala parish, Makindye Division with @KCCAED and the community leadership for a community cleanup. @KCCAUG continues it’s commitment to effect citizen mindset change that will embrace modern waste management practices like waste segregation at source. We also joined hands with the Ugandans on X @UOXUganda led by their leader @KwikirizaNova and the local leadership of Namuwongo to clean up Namuwongo market and the surrounding communities. With us was Miss @QueenAkidi and Miss @SandraAnati the Miss tourism and conservation Uganda. Many thanks to all our partners and the community for the zeal they exhibited. We held a community cleanup in Kinawataka Mbuya Nakawa Division with our stakeholders. Key to this; we sensitized the community on proper sanitation practices, the Mpox outbreak sensitization and also distributed IEC materials. The community residents were also reminded about the value of waste segregation at household level and to encourage this the sacks were distributed to the residents. Together with our development partners @PEPFAR @USAIDGH @AfricaCDC and @MinofHealthUG we held an emergency breakfast meeting on MPOX Response for Kampala Metropolitan Area. Some of the objectives of this meeting were to share the current situationMPOX report in Kampala,Wakiso and Mukono. Discuss the Mpox intersection with HIV prevention, treatment and care efforts and also align and strengthen collaboration efforts on immediate and long-term strategies for mitigation & support among partners and stakeholders. #ForABetterCity

This morning, the newly appointed ED @KCCAED , DED, and I oversaw the evacuation of accumulated garbage in the city, with a particular focus on the performance of private garbage collection companies. Our supervision included key areas such as the central business division (CBD- arcades) and markets. @KCCAUG
