What a positive contribution to the US-UK relationship that departing Ambassador Jane Hartley has made over these last four years. No wonder there are so many glowing tributes to her. Thank you @USAmbUK @USAinUK
This week we say goodbye to Ambassador Hartley, as her time as the second woman Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s comes to a close. Along with friends from the 🇺🇸+🇬🇧, we thank @USAmbUK for all her efforts to continue the essential relationship between our nations.

The gift of former US President Jimmy Carter's life is that even at the end we can all talk about how to live a good life at an important time to do so in the world. He and Rosalynn stand as extraordinary examples of how to be human. RIP

so glad you and your colleagues are safe @DrTedros
Thank you to all my friends, colleagues, and everyone who has wished me well during the ordeal in the past few days. I'm especially grateful to the colleagues and airport staff, who were selfless as they tried to protect me. We faced a very dangerous attack, but my @UN colleagues and I are now safe. We successfully evacuated our wounded colleague to Amman, and he is stable. My heart goes out to our colleagues on the front lines and the civilians who face such danger every day. I am on my way back home to Geneva.

So glad that the film 'Forgetting The Many: The Royal Pardon of Alan Turing' is getting such great accolades from the film festivals and reviewers - one of the best things @GordonBrown did was make the Apology for official anti-gay persecution, but this film makes it so clear how much harm was done and how there is still more to do. With thanks to @PeterTatchell for arranging for Gordon to do the reading that features in the film.

A big thank you to everyone who donated to the @BigGive campaign this past week that mobilised support for 1,267 charities including @theirworld. So grateful to everyone who gave to our campaign to support three early learning projects matched by a gift from Stuart Roden, and by the Helen and Michael Brown Charitable Trust. What is better than a charity gift? - one that gets doubled in the Big Give Christmas Challenge!!

At @theirworld we welcome the UK government’s decision to place the early years at the heart of the Plan for Change and set every child up for the best start in life. This commitment is backed by robust evidence, which consistently shows that investing in early childhood drives transformative outcomes—multiplying opportunities for learning, improving health and well-being, and breaking cycles of poverty and inequality. Such investments yield far-reaching benefits, not only for children and families but also for governments, businesses, and communities, ultimately shaping a stronger and more equitable future for generations to come.
