I have had a few people suggest I try out game dev. I’m definitely into the pixel art top down style, and likely it would be a fantasy simulator with crafting. Any good recs for game engines? Beginner friendly preferred, but also ok with a bit of a learning curve.

It's important to understand how valuable music and audio is to a game. I took the time to read up and learn about the music systems in some games which has resulted in me purchasing them to play them myself. Simply put - I bought the game because I was intrigued about the audio.

Why is music such an afterthought when it comes to filmmakers? Received a gig asking if I could compose a theme for a film only as they don’t have the budget to pay for a full score. Music is an integral part of filmmaking and this needs to be recognized and addressed.

1) Games take years to make. If you write a track in year 1, go back and listen to it in year 3, you will likely change orchestration and mixing decisions as you will have grown and learnt more since writing it.

When I was in high school I asked the strings teacher that I wanted to learn cello. He said cello would be difficult for me and I should do violin instead. Being a young girl not knowing how to stand up for myself, I obliged. To this day I still regret not learning cello 😕
