Fascinated by this post, I decided to recreate this mosque concept. I may colourize it, considering the historical context and typical colours of mosques from that era and the surrounding environment in 1897 Manhattan
Look what I dug up! An 1897 news report on plans to build a mosque in Manhattan (a year before Manhattan and Brooklyn became one city), led by one Hassan Ben Ali, “an Americanized Arab who has lived in New York for many years.” He reported 600 Muslims in Manhattan at the time.
