When we answered the call to come to Italy we didn’t expect to be leaving 7 weeks later. What’s happened in that time has been tragic. The crisis continues and so will the coverage
@skynews
Thank you for following our updates and all your kind messages
I’ve spent a lot of time in Manchester and Old Trafford. Fair to say Palm Beach and
#ManchesterUnited
owner Avram Glazer couldn’t have felt more distant when I met him👇
A year since my ‘in-depth chat’ with
#ManUtd
owner Avram Glazer in Palm Beach and I still get tweeted about it. Just a reminder some of you promised me a statue outside Old Trafford & free drinks in Manchester for life 😉😂
To people in UK: Lockdown measures are unnerving. It’s understandable to panic. But Italy is 9 days into lockdown and there’s more than enough food to go round. They get what they need and leave enough for each other.
Let’s try to do the same👌
The conditions here in South Yorks are very cold and these guys are soaked. They’ve still managed to crack a smile and a joke. Respect and thanks
@BritishArmy
Big shout out to the Sky News family who’ve looked after me as I’ve attempted to hide a large belly, leggings and nausea on air…. Sky News has the kindest people in the biz as well as the best. Look forward to being a viewer for a few months & cheering you from the sidelines ♥️
Ahead of asking a question at press conference, a Ukrainian journalist tells President Zelensky she would like to give him a hug but she’s not allowed. Look what happens 👇
Job news: I’m joining the Sky News presenting team. Kick off from the studio with Breakfast on Sunday. Looking forward to the new chapter and seeing a bit more of you! 📺
Feeling guilty taking a break from work when there’s so much going on but have a wedding to go to. Well it’s mine. Apparently this is a plan I can’t resched. See you at the other side 👋
The Glazers are also pretty unpopular in Tampa. Interesting too that in the rare US media interviews they give, questions about
#ManchesterUnited
are off limits
Obama not pulling any punches:
“We literally left this White House a pandemic playbook that would have shown them how to respond before the virus reached our shores. They probably used it to, I don't know, prop up a wobbly table somewhere”
Just left my bag on a train at Heathrow. Passport, bank cards, jewellery, house keys, phone, everything. It was found and returned to me within 15 minutes.
@HeathrowAirport
train staff absolutely incredible - thank you 🙏
When I arrived at Downing St last night I asked the brilliant
@bethrigbysky
if it would be worse for the Tories to oust Liz Truss and have a 5th PM in 6 years (dire stat) or stick with the status quo. Her response: “There are no good options”. Let’s see what next week brings
Happy Easter! With you for Sky News Breakfast until 10am 🐣
Easter, Passover and Ramadan are all being celebrated this weekend - this only happens three times a century 💫

Just had antibody test result - negative. Was half expecting to have had COVID after spending much of the year working in hotspots. So for any doubters, facemasks and social distancing really do work!
BREAKING: Italian PM announces stricter lockdown measures.
All shops, bars, restaurants to close completely.
Only supermarkets and pharmacies to remain open
Congratulations are in order for Sally Lockwood, who has announced her pregnancy and thanked the team behind Sky News for helping her hide it for so long

Just crossed into Poland from Ukraine. The kindness & humanity at the border is emotional to witness. Polish volunteers with food, toys, nappies. Sitting children down to eat who’ve travelled for god knows how long. It is a wretched war but the Poles are doing humankind proud
Complete the sentence “2020 the year I...” For me “the year I went to work and never came home” 🤪 Thinking of everyone going through tough times. This year has changed us a little or a lot. Sending you love and strong thoughts wherever you are. Merry Christmas ❤️
I leave New York today - the city that became my home & the friends that became family during a pretty surreal time. When I packed my bags in June I had no idea I’d be gone a year. See you after some time off and thank you for your company on here too 🤗
Today is a big day for Italy
After nearly 10 weeks of strict lockdown almost everything is reopening... Shops, restaurants, hairdressers, markets, museums
There are strict rules on social distancing & wearing masks but for the first time in months Italians can see their FRIENDS
This is Father Karl, resident The Vatican. He stopped to speak to me tonight and led me to the best spot for a photo. Just when I thought Rome couldn’t get much more surreal
#NoFilter
Unplugged a bit from social media this week but wrote a few words from isolation reflecting on the last 2mths.
Hope everyone is holding up ok in these strange times
Train Poland - Ukraine. This young guy asked for a photo when he heard we were journalists. Why would anyone be travelling into Ukraine right now?
His story: he’s heading home to look after his father - knowing he won’t be able to leave the country again once he’s back…
Been off podcasting for a few weeks but I’m back on your screens tonight for a pre Easter News at Ten and press preview of tomorrow’s papers. Lots to talk about. See you from 9pm

The saddest news. I looked up to Emily so much when I worked with her at ITN. Such a smart, classy, talented journalist - and truly lovely person. All my thoughts are with her family and friends
We are devastated at the passing of our remarkable colleague Emily Morgan.
Emily was a hugely talented journalist and a much-loved friend and mentor to so many here. She will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with Emily’s family.

Rest in peace Betty Boothroyd. A true trailblazer. I was lucky to meet her one evening and thank her for everything she’d done for women. She was charming, good fun with a twinkle in her eye. What a life. What an icon.

Message from a friend asking how I am... YET she’s a military doctor, now on the UK frontline - and has had to postphone her wedding this month. She is the sort of incredible soul we have in the UK making us so proud. Thoughts are with them all
Hello 2021 - we’re glad you’re here 💥 Thank you for your company this year. I know it’s been a tough one for so many. I’ve reported on a heck of a lot of suffering yet everywhere I go I’m reminded human beings are damn wonderful
#Happy2021
Yes I did nearly say ‘Donald Trump’s pregnancy’ instead of ‘presidency’ just now. One of the few things I can say with some confidence about the President’s health is he’s not pregnant
What a start to the year. Reporting from a riot on Capitol Hill, then an impeachment and an inauguration. All in the space of 2 weeks. Heading home to New York for a lie down in a dark room
NEW: The Taliban has met with our Sky News team in Doha & issued a stark warning about troop withdrawal from Afghanistan by 31st August:
“It’s a red line”
“If they are intent on continuing the occupation it will provoke a reaction”
One of the most supportive and encouraging people I’ve ever worked with - and when he’s around you don’t need google. He knows everything. I will miss you

My first job in news was as a researcher/runner for Alastair Stewart for the 2010 general election.
He’s now a firm friend & mentor.
You never forget the people who show you kindness & encouragement when you’re at the bottom of a newsroom foodchain.
When we were reporting from Italy during lockdown 1 it was pretty clear the pandemic wasn’t being taken as seriously in Britain. Now these ongoing revelations out of Downing St..

BREAKING:
793 people have died in the last 24hrs in Italy.
Total lives lost now 4,825.
It’s exactly a month since the first person lost their life in Italy.

I was born in Leicester. Not relevant. BUT important to support the city and region while it goes through this extended lockdown. It could happen to any town at any time in this crisis. Let’s not stigmatise areas but support them

Finland is closing its border to Russian tourists at midnight (9pm GMT)
Decision comes after mass exodus of men of fighting age in recent days following Putin’s plans to mobilise reservists. Finnish gov is citing international relations as reason for decision.
Live from Downing Street until 9pm on another day of huge political drama. The chancellor gone after 38 days. The big question can PM Liz Truss survive?

An Italian surgeon working on the frontline in Lombardy tells me they’re running out of oxygen, protective equipment and staff.
Some of his own colleagues are now patients in ICU.
I wished him well at the end of our call and he said “good luck to you too, because it’s coming”
Exactly a year ago we were reporting from a Ukrainian shopping centre after it was hit by a missile in the middle of the afternoon. Now, a pizza restaurant in Kramatorsk at its busiest time of the day. And a year on, Russia continues to deny it is targeting civilians
Don’t have a photo at 20 but I have this one at 4 with my friend Jo.
We were supposed to be celebrating her wedding next weekend. As a military doctor she’s working in a UK A&E instead. Gives us time to perfect our universal haircuts ahead of nuptials next year

Around 1 in 4 people being tested in Wisconsin is positive for coronavirus. It’s one of the world’s hotspots for COVID-19 right now. It’s also where Donald Trump held a packed rally last night despite pleas from local doctors to cancel plans
