It is with very sad news to say that Robert passed away this morning following a late diagnosis and very short battle with cancer.
He was a lifelong rugby fan and

@BBCWorld
Just imagine this all the other way around. GB out of EU, approving and ordering late, and now demanding (not asking) but demanding help. Imagine the explosion of remainer rage and sanctimonious "we told you so crap".
@AgrippaSPQR
Maybe we should hire top people who deserve the role through a career dedicated to a chosen field, in this case retail. Employing based on anything else is at best a risk.
@DanielJHannan
For a state owned broadcaster they are a disgrace. The editorialising and frankly now unashamed anti Tory and anti Brexit campaigning masquerading as a news programme is beyond a joke.
@DAaronovitch
He is stating facts. All you have is to attack him, his motives, label him and say nothing substantive. When will you start to address the issue raised. When will you accept that millions of Britain’s are watching the country that they were born and raised in, change in a

I’d prefer you’d argue the science with those that feel that there are risks to MRNA vaccines rather than seek to silence. Many of us non scientists are hugely alarmed either though personal experience or the global evidence of excess mortality. Trying to close down debate is bad
@jessphillips
Hi Jess, I am a UK manufacturer who exports to EU. My GB clients audit requirements, over conditions here at our UK factory and in my Far East production, plus our sustainability criteria are huge. We comply and win CSR awards. My EU clients don’t give a toss. We are miles ahead.

But 3 years prison sentence and summary trial in 2 days, for posting online, no matter how bad the tweets were (they were bad) and not detracting from the criminality of the postings, the sentencing surely on these two cases are wrong and a best inconsistent. At worst -
@Basil_TGMD
@labourlewis
just for clarity are these the “fascists” that made you lead a fervent crowd screaming “fight”.
Do you think your behaviour is fitting of an MP?
Do you want to bring communities together or prefer fighting your opponents?
@drdavidbull
I am right of centre but I don’t want a right wing news channel anymore than I want left wing ones like BBC, CH4 or Sky. I want fair, grown up news. Allow MPs to answer questions. Long format & not gotcha moments. In short more “This Week” and less “Newsnight”
Too many rugby players now unnecessarily behaving like utter twats when their team scores. Wind-up in your face celebrations - child like back slaps on your opponents and screaming in the faces of defenders. Our sport used to be better than that.
@RimmerRimmer15
@michaelgove
Since when do Broadcasters get to demand leaders only must be present. Parties agree to schedules and sometimes they don’t. This started as an environmental debate & they unilaterally & without consent tagged it Leaders. They have legal responsibility for balance and failing.

Sanctimonious, arrogant fascists. Forcing their will & opinion on others & deliberately creating hurt & anger, whilst self righteously believing they are better than you. The public have had enough. I fear if the police don’t get a grip, we will see vigilante style solutions.
@catherinemep
So attack the messenger not the message & if that fails try & silence your opponents. Is this the new tolerant Liberal Democrat’s? Because you don’t agree with someone doesn’t give you the right to try & silence them.

I suspect she and me, have different opinions to you. Why does that make her or me dangerous and divisive. Rather than leading some pathetic campaign to get her cancelled why not just argue your case and win

I have a 22000sq ft factory roof that could power my entire factory. Because it has the low grade asbestos roofing that so many factories have, I’d need to reclad or better remove and have a totally new roof. The costs for this make the payback 12-16 years according to what you

the idea that govts drive standards is misplaced. Brands and customers are driving excellence on all areas - ethical trading, sustainable materials, low carbon. Uk firms are way ahead of EU firms on insistence on SMETA audits, REACH compliance etc.

How can you possibly claim to know what GB News will be like or stand for. Not sure how anyone can judge an organisation before it’s even up and running. Prejudice and bias seems to be your stock trait so a bit hypocritical to diminish an organisation before it’s even started.
@jimhamilton4
Yep leave a brilliantly supported club, with a great atmosphere, beautiful stadium, playing a fantastic style, to go to a ground where they have to pipe in music to generate noise, and play on plastic.

I’ve never understood or agreed with the “put down label” far right. Are these young balaclava wearing disillusioned men, all rabid free market, low tax, small govt Hayekians? For me left/right is about economics and state/liberty arguments.

“Anyone who disagrees with me is a Fascist / Nazi” seems to be the common language of the left and has a home in the Labour Party.

I’m still struggling to understand the collective mindset. All the things that the Conservatives are being hammered for are problems that have not been solved. Immigration, effectively bankrupt state / debt , high taxes, woke nonsense.

The Cancel culture is ugly in every form. Why not accept others have different views and move on? Often views are nuanced and not so far apart. But polarising and denigrating doesn’t bring people together to find common ground. Just more hate and division.

So some positives for

The idea that we are helping the planet by abandoning our own fossil fuels, and importing the same fuels from our enemies is the most stupid policy I can recall. Geopolitical madness and poor politics at home to exacerbate fuel poverty and damage UK manufacturing.

It seemed so obvious, the public voted in a party that had supported all the things that they hated about the last govt, but had actually wanted even more. The left used every lawfayre trick in the book to stop UK govt dealing with illegal immigration.

Jim Mallinder has been a top coach and top bloke to have at the helm for many years, and collectively we all owe him a great deal for the success we've enjoyed. To be DOR for over 10 years is a great achievement in the modern game and he will be a huge asset to another club.
