This blog has some extremely important insights into what needs to change in the world of academia today, especially in its treatment of women. CW: rape and misogyny

@SanktMaxTCI That sounds more plausible to me, but then I'm not sure why I'm getting seen as a teacher. I'm literally just some random grad student who's been asked to read their essays and to help them write better. If we were teachers, maybe it'd be easier to exercise our employment rights.

It makes me wonder what expectations are inculcated in undergrads about university tutorials. Do they think that I'm reporting their every move to their professors? Do other tutors penalise them for things like this?

@xenogothic I feel especially bad for the bar staff having to deal with this person demanding special treatment. When people did this to me while I was working the pub I'd just have gone and grabbed the manager, I wasn't getting paid enough to deal with that.

This book coming out in July looks promising (just announced on the HM mailing list). I don't think I've seen a systematic treatment of Althusser's thinking on education before. Plus it's always cool to see people drawing on his unpublished materials.

It's an incredible power move from Srinivasan to start off an epistemology paper with a quote from Trotsky

Sometimes I forget how recently Hilary Putnam was alive. And then I remember that he maintained a blog, on which he once offered a detailed correction of his Wikipedia page

@DuncanAStuart I somehow missed him when he was in Oxford, but I heard from friends who went that he’s a sweet old guy
