It may have taken close to 3 hours, but the ANC voted unanimously to support the Protected Bike Lane on 11th St NW.
There will be more community engagement from DDOT and we’re all excited for this progress!
FYI, the 11th PBL on ANC 1B’s agenda for the monthly meeting Thursday starting at 6:30pm. Some are under the impression that there is no support for the PBL…(I was unnecessarily harangued on Friday about this 🙃)
Trash can be collected.

But you know what can’t be fixed immediately? Trauma inflicted when you are forced to leave your home.
When I asked about signing AND retention bonuses for teachers, since retention rates are SO LOW and, you know, teachers more than deserve this, I was told that teachers have a bonus…for performance. Seems like MPD is the group that needs to be measured on performance…
I don’t have time to provide more context, but when you hear someone praise that we’re now prosecuting kids as adults in DC…It’s hard for me to not lose faith in humanity. Sad fucking world we live in.
Tonight I was vilified multiple times for just doing my job as Chair of ANC 1B representing the ANC at this hearing.
I voted in favor of upzoning 1617 U St & I was 1 of 7 voting in favor. The opposition has a right to speak against this, but no one Cmsr should be singled out.

Today, I’m announcing my write-in campaign for ANC 1B08.
I’m withdrawing my name off the ballot as my petitions were challenged over personal vendettas. This process is an important accountability layer, but the two individuals challenging my petitions do not have that goal.
The mental gymnastics, flexibility, and passes given to the (full-time & paid) Mayor, Council, MPD, and other District officials is absolutely incredible.
And yet, for UNPAID, volunteer ANCs with NO legislative power we are to blame for all of DC’s problems. 🫠
Some news: Essie and I moved! We’re just two single girls living on U St now. It’s been about a month in our new bachelorette pad and it’s truly feeling like home.
For ANC work: I will accept and welcome feedback from constituents, nearby neighbors, fellow commissioners, other locally elected officials, and gov. reps. I will not tolerate harassment and debasing claims from someone hiding behind an unidentifiable Twitter username.
I’m at the MPD Third District Town Hall and the Commander referred to his patrols as “sharks in the water” circling around the U St corridor. Oh really, who is the prey?
This isn’t serving and protecting the community.

ANC work is often hard and thankless but it’s still impactful. And what I’ve learned serving as ANC is that when it comes to helping your community, the work is never done. That’s why I’m running for re-election for the newly formed 1B08.

Prioritize people over cars. (We don't even prioritize most people who operate cars as they are designed for one gender of "average" size & height).
Time to expand mass transit, wider sidewalks, protected bike lanes, plant trees, smaller car lanes, etc
Normally, I ignore flippant tweets like this one. But we saw, yet again, a man brutally died at the hands of police & it only reminded me of those we have lost in DC (). Including one of my constituents & more training from police wouldn’t have saved him.

Here are some facts about Phở since people are commenting about the food scene in DC:
1. Phở isn't the only Vietnamese dish!!! !!! !!!
2. Phở is traditionally eaten for breakfast.
3. Real bone-based broth Phở takes at least 6 hours to make.

This tweet is a choice — to mislead and target me.
We discussed an addition of a loading zone that could potentially remove 3 RPP spaces, adding 4 RPP spaces to the south side, & then proposing changing 10th St to RPP only. In total that would be a net gain in parking spaces.
I went back & forth many times if I should run again because over the last 2-3 years I have been at the center of attacks on ANC 1B from fellow commissioners.
Ultimately, I am running again and I hope those who live in 1B03 vote for J to beat one of the most toxic commissioners.
Several others I know aren't running bc the environment—or fellow ANCs—are so toxic.
While it won't take a Charter amendment, this is harder to fix. But it starts by beating toxic bully ANCs & electing those who will work with, not against, fellow Cmsrs.

Voicing for eviction of encampments isn’t empathy, it’s not even sympathy, it’s just your own selfish motives to remove something from your sightline that you don’t want to see.

The outrage around a certain photo of ANCs is so hypocritical. Where was this energy when 1B *actually* had (& likely still happening) an ANC conducting unethical activity, harassing, & actively using their title to get preferential treatment?! Much worse than flipping the bird.

I’m trying to understand why MPD was engaged when this wasn’t the first time phone calls were made for this individual who was experiencing a mental health crisis tonight. Why wasn’t CRT/DBH called in? Why do we continue to rely on MPD and their inevitable violent response?

I live in an 8-story apartment building (.4 miles away from 1617 U St). Apparently, the neighbors in my building and myself do not care or contribute to the neighborhood. 😑

Only parts of the 3D drug free zones are in my district.
But all parts of this are bullshit.
I've spent years getting to know neighbors who hang out in these areas and understanding the issues here. Drugs aren't one.
Honestly, the only debate I want to have with folks on here today is why my dog is one of the cutest doggos in all of DC. Actually, no need to debate. I know it to be true.

There's no housing on 1617 U St / 1620 V St, so there will be net gain in housing (and affordable housing) here especially if a map amendment is passed.
The Stay DC application shouldn't be so complicated. Having the stress of facing eviction is a burden no one should bear right now. People need this money, it's here, and yet, it is painstakingly difficult at almost every point to get them this support.
This was a trick question. There are no benefits. Slip lanes encourage bad driver behavior and present safety hazards for pedestrians, cyclists, and likely drivers themselves. Ready to get rid of the slip lane at 16th/U/New Hampshire Ave NW.
Drugs are illegal and have been even before these drug free zones.
If these areas were really such drug infested zones why didn’t the cops catch people before?

“No one wants less police. When evil comes to your block your perspective changes.” 8 shootings have happened right across the street from me over the last year and actually, I don’t want more police. Police don’t prevent violence and they have yet to solve any of these cases.
Today’s Crosstown Cleanup was quite a feat! We couldn’t fully hit all of DC & there’s still room for improvement for the next one, but we covered 10+ miles & filled many (many!) bags of trash! We hope this makes DC a little brighter & cleaner. Big thanks to everyone who came out!
