24th May 2011 at 3pm my life changed. Something instantly saw me removed from class a little earlier than everyone else. I said my goodbyes to my teacher and friends and told them I’d see them soon. I told them I wouldn’t be out after school to play football.

I’ve been involved in political activism for around 6 years now. Most of that time was lobbying and campaigning for the UNCRC Incorporation Bill in Scotland.
I’ve seen some mental times already but this tops it. A landmark piece of legislation possibly ripped from us! So angry!

At third time of asking.. it’s been confirmed.. I’m going to Strathclyde University to do a Scots Law Degree.
As a care experienced person in my early 20s, I’ve had a few exam results days in my time and the same thing seems to happen, I get weirded out by it. The unknown of what the following months may look & feel like. This time I hope I get into university at the 3rd time of trying.

So today I am in college and I have watched Harry Burns’ TEDx talk in Glasgow and again it reminds me of what my purpose in life is. To stand up for those missing a voice, giving them a sense of purpose and preaching that early childhood can be impacted with adversity.

Even seeing a minute of Charlotte speak who is a fellow care experienced person I know that cycles will be broken. I too, want to break the cycle/chain of uncertainty that my family experienced. Care has given me the opportunity to do this but I’m a rare case. I stand not to be.

This was because my social worker told me that the caring responsibilities to my younger brother would end and I was delighted. They had found a couple willing to care for me and my brother in North Lanarkshire, not Glasgow. It was hard and we didn’t want to be spilt up.
