Okay so, the new Airchat is impressive, I did not expect it to be this good. A lot are referring to it as a social walkie-talkie. It makes sense why Naval built this for himself. It’s invite only, directions at end of thread if you want one. Some initial findings:

Trust and safe space. No one likes hearing the sound of their own voice at times. Especially if you play it back and hear rage or cringe behavior. I believe a lot of inkling sparks or ideas can come from a place like that, then repurposed elsewhere if it makes sense.

Airchat’s auto-transcription of a voice clip to text in hindsight is so obvious. Every social / messaging app will copy. It’s done super well removing um’s and ah’s and makes you honestly sound a little smarter with 2 or 3x speed built in.

It feels like the early days of Clubhouse (they reportedly actually attempted to clone the first airchat version). But, it kind of addresses the reason why Clubhouse’s pivot to async chat totally ruined the UX. Async works better on a Twitter-like timeline.

I found a few features by accidient. 1) If you leave the app or put your phone on your desk, it will continue to play the auto-transcriptions on the feed like in the background you’re hearing mini conversations. Then when you hear an interesting one, you can decide to jump in.
