park we hiked to this waterfall! And while it's not summer yet, it sure felt like it that day. So here's a little snippet of In "The Summertime" to go along with the video and 30 seconds or so of chill! Peace. RSF.
When the weeping cherry blooms it's a sure sign that spring is really here... or at least right around the corner. Here's to renewal and rebirth... and peace, RSF

I’m happy to bring you an acoustic version of my song The Ghosts of Sugarland.

A Monday morning lament.
We had such a blast playing the Cutting Room a couple (well 9 actually!) years back.
Here's a song off of The Waiting Sky for all us working stiffs!

I'm starting a new series where I share what I believe to be the meaning behind some of my past releases.

We lost my wonderfully funny and loving brother-in-law Tony to colon cancer in 2012 while I was in the middle of recording “The Waiting Sky”. “Too Soon” was written for him. We miss him dearly still.

Early days (circa 2008?) w/ the amazing

. I always told her she was gonna be a star... and it turned out to be true! She went on to star on Broadway in Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812! (I'm no genius, she is simply undeniably great!)
My daughter Allie sang background vocals on a few of the songs on the album! She absolutely killed it and blew all of us away…including Larry Campbell seen here working with her on a tune called, “I Want Her To Know!"
I’ve been spending a lot of long days in The Playroom with Justin.
I really can’t wait to share these new songs with you.

One cold winter night my very cute, very sleepy, young son asked me who I loved more, him or his big sister. The answer to that question is in the last verse of the song.
Check it out and let me know what you think!
The amazing Justin Guip is putting the final touches on the mixes for the new album! These tracks sound great, can’t wait for you to hear them! This is a snippet from “In The Summertime” about taking some time from all the craziness around us to stop and smell the pines!”
A little inspiration that it's never too late. Making music, performing live, and releasing records has brought me so much happiness... and we ALL deserve to be happy!!

“Your Voice” was written after the breakup of my first marriage. I had a very close relationship with my older brother Larry, and still do. At that time however, he had 2 young children and was totally consumed by his role as a dad. He didn’t have much time for me to cry on his

My song Rise came out 3 years ago today.
It's about rising above our petty differences and coming together as people with an eye toward the common good. A message we need even more today...

The title track of my third record - Rise.
A song about rising above our petty differences and coming together as people with an eye toward the common good.
A message we need even more today & in Novemeber...
Being a folk musician - my goal is to write songs about things a lot of people don't know about.
Is there a true story that you don't think got a lot of media attention? Comment below - I'd love to pick one to write a song about.
Sending big love to my brother from another mother, and the best drummer I know (he's so good he even makes a pleather bar stool sound great), Jim Toscano, who is recovering from some major surgery. Here's hoping that the recovery is speedy and smooth, love you brother!
I've been working hard on the new record, and it’s been a minute since we’ve played a full-band show… so I’m super excited to be playing Sea Cliff Beach this Friday, 7/12, at 7:00 p.m.
Bring a blanket and some snacks, and we will see you there(weather permitting)!

I grew up with a very typical dad who went to work in the morning and came home at night - so I hardly saw my dad for the first ten years of my life. Of course I loved him and knew that he loved me, but I had a very special relationship with my mom. She was always there when I
This is "Last Train to Babylon," a song about how dire everything feels in the world, and how people are the cause, and the only way to turn it around is for people to decide to do it — ‘It’s down to you and me.’
We are getting so close to new music & I'm really excited to
I hope you all had a beautiful holiday with your family.
My song Mother and Son feels like a very fitting after-holiday song. The joy of watching my kids with their mom also reminds me how much I miss my mom.

This song is based on my own grandfather’s immigration story. If the attitudes that exist now toward immigrants and refugees existed when he made his solo journey, at the age of 13, from Eastern Europe in 1907, my family, and many of yours, would not be proud Americans today.
Walls Close In is a song about the sometimes overwhelming feelings of pressure in our day to day lives... and trying so hard to fake it. Feelings many of us are all too familiar with these days.

I wrote the majority of ‘Carry Me’ when I was down in Nashville after a day of co-writing sessions. I was in an empty, rented house in East Nashville and feeling lonely and far away from my wife and kids up North. The song is about how this is who I am. I’m a writer and a
Some cute dad, daughter & music moments. She was a great roadie on our tour of southern California in 2017 and she's blossomed into a beautiful and talented singer in her own right!
A love song for summer.
I’ve been counting down songs all summer as I finish up my 5th album and in two short weeks I’ll have an exciting announcement.
In the meantime, this is “In The Summertime” off my most recent album LOVE HOPE TRUST.

My friend Kai sent this poem as a New Years greeting and I had to share...

If you love enough, you will come into
the presence of Love itself.

Wishing you a year, and a life, filled with love...
