👩⚕️🎓 Beyond thrilled to announce the completion of my residency in dermatology! 🎉✨
Here's to new beginnings, continued learning, and making a difference in the lives of those we serve. 🌈🌟
So our class' grad committee has started collecting information from us in preparation for our med school grad rites on July. One item was to name an individual who I wish to have as our commencement speaker. Of course, I chose no less than the President of the Philippines...
I was interviewing an 8/M patient from Samar, came in due to probably an Achilles tendon avulsion, when he yelled:
"I HATE THIS HOSPITAL!"
With 0.5% EQ left, I immediately replied,
"SAME, GHORLL!"

Genetics aside, I think the secret to looking young is skincare. Just do the 5-step routine, (wash - toner - serum - moisturizer - sunscreen), morning and night.
Your skin and your future self will thank you for it.

Today, my longest ever Hansen’s (aka leprosy or ketong) patient “graduated” today from my care after 31 months of treatment. I had him since start of my residency and I’m so glad I got to witness his improvement albeit rather slow. My heart is full.

Skl. I recently matched with a Twitter mutual on Bumble. When he discovered that we're mutuals, he unmatched me immediately and blocked me on all my social media platforms. Is he hiding something? Hmmm 🤔

Thanks

, at least ngayon, alam ko nang mahal ako ng kuya ko 😜
I have yet to hear a (pa-woke) UP student living in the Metro calling out the NPAs for the atrocities they bring to the rural areas. Try living in the provinces and see their true colors.
Today, I administered my first ever biologic to a patient in my training - a 51/M with severe psoriasis!
Each vial costs a whopping Php16K. Abroad, these wonder drugs are covered by their insurance at some level. One can only hope that our HC system will follow suit soon 🤞

#Retinol
emerged as the most widely used topical retinoid in this informal survey, possibly due to its over-the-counter availability and heavy promotion by influencers(?)
For retinoid virgins, I’ll try to introduce these topicals to you one by one.✨

I don’t mean to dampen your spirits, but why is everyone flaunting their sunburns? Skin cancer, including melanoma - the most lethal type - can result from that.
But no, I'm now trapped in a world where the quest for professional mobility, intimacy and well-being can be quite slow and daunting. I have no choice but to keep the passion burning and discover my niche. At the end of the day, we all need to remember to just keep going.
My med school mentor just called to check up on me. She was asking if I was eating enough or how's life been after we were pulled out from our hospital duties. It feels reassuring when someone close to your heart (apart from your family) shows this kind of concern. I'm blessed.
Just woke up after a record-breaking 17 hours of sleep (longest one I had in med), skipped 3 meals, missed a high school reunion. What did OBAS do to me?
In my almost 2 months of doing Telemedicine in a public hospital, one thing I realized is the rate of patient follow-up is at an all-time high because it's the doctor who would call his/her patients to get an update and not the other way around.
When I was a 3rd year medical student, we had a case conference with her in pediatrics and a small discussion on Dengvaxia which was a very hot issue then. She was so beautiful I couldn't stop looking at her face.
Farewell, Ma'am Sally.

Such an honor to have my 2 “babies” from residency presented at the Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS) Annual Research Forum today. I hope I made my institution proud.

A month ago, saw a px with intractable generalized pruritus w/ associated DOB. Lab workup showed 18x ⬆️ crea. Last week, his wife returned to the clinic to personally thank me. Px is now on dialysis 3x weekly with complete resolution of symptoms.
Medical derm is bittersweet 👨🏻⚕️

today: Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung; and walked around the serene Bukchon Hanok Village. Also, my first time to wear a hanbok. Yay! What a day!

I'm so happy a lot of my friends are going international career-wise. Just this month, a friend is now living the European dream in Luxembourg for a work stint on finance. Another is flying to Okinawa anytime soon to further expand his architectural work. Damn proud of them.
