@hindsight2020is @WholeMarsBlog Might be some misunderstanding here because in other areas they report much larger numbers of rides and miles. Maybe DMV miles in these reports might only include AV testing, excluding ride share operations.

@hindsight2020is @WholeMarsBlog They are doing a huge number of rides in SF. I’ve never heard of a waymo person in the car. Remote supervision, even fractional, seems like a more plausible explanation.

@hindsight2020is @WholeMarsBlog I’ve been watched them drive around in SF and they very commonly are empty. When developing the system, yes, frequently they had what looked Iike people testing the system but when they shifted to driverless, they often were fully empty.

@MobofJoggers @WholeMarsBlog I see lots of cars completely empty. Is this referring to remote supervision?

Any effort to identify waste is a positive. Here are the issues that raise concern to me: 1. If the information they are using is not publicly available, they should have legal authority to review it. 2. Any personally identifying data should be removed from the process unless it’s proven necessary and in that case, safeguard should be implemented to protect that data. 3. an effort to find waste should result in recommendations to Congress to eliminate waste rather than pretending that they have the right to shut down agencies of the federal government, which they don’t have the authority to close.

@elonmusk Requiring the government to supply funding as legislated by Congress and signed the president is not a power grab, it’s lawful order. You know, laterally trying to override legislation and exceeded the power of the president is the power grab and it must stop.

@BertelSchmitt I think we should be prepared for Musk to ask to cut EV incentives. He’s frequently said that Tesla doesn’t need them and cancellation may hurt the rivals more than they hurt Tesla.
